This is a great place to try new drinks because their drink menu is huge! Lots of local beers and wine to try. It's a great location to meet up with friends, grab a drink and some appetizers before going out in the highlands. Love their huge upstairs patio and game room! Only downside is trying to find parking, but that's typical for that area

I have been to the location in Indianapolis several times and was stoked to see a location in Louisville. I was ready to get my “crack fries “ fix! My wife and I arrived at two in a Wednesday afternoon and there were very few patrons in the place. We were quickly seated at taken care of by a outstanding server. Recommend appetizers and the perfect beer to satisfy my taste buds. We ordered a burger and the pork burrito and that’s when the visit changed. The burger was semi raw which the wife ate the well don parts and I had the rest and the burrito was not very tasty. But the real downer was the fries were Luke warm at best and hard. Like they had been sitting around for awhile.

This review has nothing to do about food and is specifically about the service I was provided. I placed an online order and it said it would be ready at a specific time. I showed up at the time it said and they said they would go check on it. After about 15 minutes of standing there the lady comes back and is very rude and disrespectful. She was assuming someone passed information along to me and was very condescending about how she spoke to me. The dine in experience seems lively but be prepared to wait for extended period of time. After waiting for about 20 minutes i stopped a different worker and explained to him how rude the hostess was and how long i had been waiting. He was very apologetic. About 10 minutes later I finally had my to go order.
We had an awesome first time experience at HopCat. First of all, I love the atmosphere and feel of the place when you walk in. After being seated, we were promptly greeted by our server, who continued to be attentive and friendly throughout our visit. He even read my lips when I was confirming with my husband which appetizer we wanted as he was walking up, so I didn't even have to repeat it to him haha. We had the pretzel nuggs, which were perfect. My husband then had a veggie burger & onion rings and I had a new dish, consisting of honey sriracha flash-fried cauliflower over rice & veggies which was super yummy and a very generous portion. I brought home a lot of that in a box even though I really liked it. During our visit, the manager also stopped by our table to ask for our feedback and he seemed genuinely interested in making sure we were satisfied. It might seem a little excessive to give a 5-star review to a casual restaurant like this, but I feel that they are nailing what they are attempting to be/do, and I wouldn't change a thing.

Overpriced beer and mediocre food not to mention management has no rapport with repeat customers. Ever since this place got new management has really gone downhill. Lot better places to choose from in the Highlands.

My lady and I go to hop cat at least 3 to 4 times a month. We enjoy the food, overall atmosphere, games, and of course the beer! However, recently there was a shift in the night bartender. Idk his name but I know he isn't very good at what he does. Working in the food and beverage industry, I can say with the utmost confidence that this man has poor work ethic and is not good at his job. Our last visit was frankly a little enraging in that we went into Hopcat at around 1130/12 and it was not a full or busy night. This particular bartender waited on us, after.... I sat at the bar for what felt like over a decade (in reality it was actually 8.5 minutes) before I was even acknowledged... The last 3 times we have been in this has been how we have been greeted, along with a poor attitude and quite time when asked questions. I truly don't get irritated this often as I understand that you get crabby on bad nights but, I think this guy is just a dick or is really bad at his job. The restaurant itself though rocks, and I love everything about it. However, we are either going to start going less and earlier to avoid this particular bartender (see sleeveless guy in photo).
