The Mellwood Tavern is among Louisville's awesome dive bars. Deep drinks cheap and the occasional band. They have food, but I've never tried it. Amazing outdoor space.
This sweet bar/grill/venue/community hub has a great way of tickling all of my fancies. An absolute gem through and through. 73 million stars!
Good spot for live music. You can hear the band from outside on the patio. I appreciate that they have a self-serve water station.

This was supposed to be a private scheduled event that was reconfirmed the day prior. When arrived nobody was there and the doors locked. A no-show by the owner/manager was very disappointing and inconvenient as our schedule was built around the experience. The review was not a mistake and I tried responding to you through gmail.

Stopped in for supper and part of the band was playing. Turns out I knew the guitarist! We visited a bit and then went outside to have quesadillas. It's a great old.bar.in butcher town in Louisville.

Love this place. Mellwood Tavern gives you two completely different experiences under one roof, and both are worth checking out.
Downstairs is exactly what a great Louisville dive bar should be—laid back, unpretentious, and stocked with a really solid beer selection. The real star, though, is Tuesday night fried chicken, which might honestly be the best in Louisville. It’s crispy, flavorful, and absolutely worth planning your week around. And whatever you do, don’t skip the potato cakes—they’re the perfect side and honestly complete the whole meal.
Upstairs is a total contrast in the best way. The renovated private hangout space is quieter, well-appointed, and perfect if you want a more relaxed vibe. Between the dart boards, TVs, and comfortable setup, it’s an awesome place to watch whatever game you want, hang with friends, or spend a long night throwing darts without the chaos of the downstairs bar.
It’s rare to find a place that nails both the classic dive bar feel and a polished private hangout space, but Mellwood does it perfectly. Tuesday chicken alone is worth the trip.

This place is fantastic! I love the people there. The chicken is amazing, and the staff is incredible. We’re neighbors across the street at Billion Cup Coffee.

$20 for just one margarita at the bar almost ruined my Valentine's Day, not to mention the dirty bathroom. Sad!!!

Haven't had food here (yet!), but the ambiance is great! Mellwood is a smaller bar with a second beautiful bar upstairs. The waitresses are nice, the service is great, the drinks are delicious, and the views from upstairs are really nice! I really enjoy this bar, I'm glad I found it!

Service is great otherwise, but you're definitely going to wait behind the regulars. Good music, but too loud to enjoy conversation even at the back of bar near the door where it stayed cold from everyone going in and out. I'm willing to give this place a better review because it's obvious in the summer it's a great place to hang out. Dead of winter though- maybe turn the mics down a tad. There's no place except the smoking barn to escape the loud music.
