Grill was undersized, using a microwave to cook the oatmeal from instant packages. Fryer was broken. I overheard the young waiter say I don't know how to cook the oatmeal. The food took long to come out. The price is great for the food, just the flavors we just not there. The biscuits and gravy well below average. The hash browns were crispy and enjoying. Overall I'd rate this a 3.6 for the price.
I can certainly see why this place was busy when I came by. The outside has a classic diner look and that's carried through on the inside as well. I had a club sandwich with onion rings and a friend had chili. We are both quite happy with the food. It tasted great and certainly was very reasonably priced. It is not a fancy place but certainly a great diner experience! Service was fantastic and we got our food quickly.
Very comfortable homestyle food and atmosphere! Waitresses were very kind to me and my children. You can tell it was a local spot because many of the locals were there and very friendly. We will always come back when we are in town passing through. Thanks to everybody at Mel's
