I had the Hot Brown and it was fantastic. Our server was great and so was the atmosphere. Make sure you have a reservation and don't arrive over 5 minutes early they don't have much of a waiting area. If the weather is warm I'd guess waiting on the porch would be nice.

For the last few months I've been disappointed with some pretty ho hum, high priced meals in Louisville. Then last night I had the pleasure of dining with a friend at The Bell House in Shelbyville, KY just outside Louisville. It was the best meal & atmosphere I've experienced in ages. I started the meal with the seafood cakes cooked like crab cakes but with a fine, subtle seasoning. For my main course I had the beef tips with a mushroom demi-glace which was wonderful and cooked as ordered. I also had two sides - a house salad with a good raspberry vinaigrette dressing and the best mushroom risotto I've ever eaten. For dessert my friend and I shared an Amaretto chocolate cake that was rich with yummy chocolate ganache that was moist and flavorful. A cup of coffee finished the meal. All that was $51 plus 20+% tip for great service. I highly recommend this restaurant but make reservations on weekends.

I always enjoy coming here for lunch. The atmosphere and the food are wonderful. Lots of great food options and all was well prepared.Parking: There is limited parking at the rear of the building. Street parking out front is the easiest.
