The food here was surprisingly good. We had the smothered chicken, rice and gravy, southern green beans with potatoes, and sautéed cabbage. You get a complimentary slice of cornbread and yellow cake with a simple sugar icing. The serving sizes are much larger than you think you will be getting which makes your meal very cost effective. The folks running the place were extremely helpful and patient with us as it was our first time there and navigating the menu can be a little difficult to understand based on just the pictures. Give this place a try and you will leave full and happy.

If you're looking for some delicious comfort and soul food, this is the place! This is a local, family owned business run by the sweetest people. You can order from the menu or choose from the daily plate lunch offerings (changes daily, served cafeteria style) such as smothered pork chops, baked chicken, beef stew, and, my favorite, chicken spaghetti. The meal comes with three sides, and the mac & cheese is some of the best I've ever had. Each meal also includes a piece of cornbread and a piece of cake. They even have a drive thru now, so I can pick up yummy, home cooked food in the same time it would take to pick up fast food. This place is a CenLa treasure!

It tastes like home cooking. The room is too big, but the food is great. It's good old fashioned comfort food.

Had the baked chicken and my mom had a fried pork chop, very good filled with lots of flavor. The sides were absolutely amazing!!! My favorite was the mashed potatoes cause they had bits of potato in them which is something that always elevates mashed potatoes above and beyond. The mac and cheese and sweet potatoes were also very good

Hubby and I were traveling to New Orleans. We stopped here for lunch and it was fantastic! My husband had the fried wings, rice and gravy and I had the beef stew with rice, green beans, yams and cornbread. We are both still talking about our delicious dishes! I always put salt and butter on my food however this food didn't need a thing. The flavors and spices were perfect. The staff was so friendly to us and made us feel right at home.

My favorite restaurant in Alexandria! Down home southern cooking. Taste like my maw maw's. Spacious seating. Rustic Louisiana atmosphere.

Well of course I was visiting and another restaurant was recommended but that as I was driving by, I saw the restaurant I decided to stop and look inside. Well the food look great, the atmosphere was cool and I ended up getting two shrimp poor boys with fries and it was great, great stop!!!

Delicious, down home cooking! We had the red beans and rice, a vegetable platter, and a fried shrimp po boy and everything was fresh and good! The mashed potato's were especially good. All well seasoned, served piping hot, real cooking.

Just damn good, home cooked food. There's no other way to spin it. Baked chicken is a must. They have a drive through which is awesome.

Definitely decent food. I had crawfish etoufee, some fried fish and shrimp. Best thing was probably the cornbread. Wow yum. The rest was all decent but nothing special honestly. I'm thinking these reviews were because it's a small town and this is a reasonable place to visit? Not sure...but again, it's fine. But better to come expecting three stars and leave happy. ;)

Love this place for lunch. Everything is always incredible and you do not spend much time to sit down and have a great lunch. It's amazing how quickly they had people in and out, especially with such an intricate menu. Kudos***
