“I visited El Rodeo on a trip to visit family, and I have to say it was quaint. The food was excellent. I had the Burrito El Borrego which was delightful and very flavorful. I asked for a side dish of the creamy Habenero sauce from their Habenero Enchiladas which added a nice spice kick to the burrito that I really enjoyed. The restaurant felt a little dark and low lit for my personal tastes, but the decor was quaint and typical of most Mexican foor restaurants. Took a little to find or waiter when it came time to box up left overs, but this was not an overly big issue. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and would return next time I'm in town.”

“I had an “enjoyable” time here in 2012 for “WLC” Some of the instructors were racist. But that’s to be expected. It’s the army. The females barracks were definitely haunted. But instead they treated us as if we were insane. Food at the chow hall was mediocre. But we were glad to sit with others and talk even if it was briefly. They used to have inmates working in the chow hall and all around the grounds. They wore white jumpsuits. That was a bit weird. Glad I was only there for 2 weeks. What made it memorable were my battle buddies. Not an ideal place, but at least we got interesting memories!”

“I did not expect to find some of the best pizza I’ve ever eaten, in Alexandria, Louisiana! I travel very often for dog shows, and pizza is always my go to DoorDash pick when we’re at hotels since it keeps for a couple days and the pups enjoy the crust. We’ve had pizza from all over the US, and this place made my Top 3 Pizza Places list after the first bite. I tried the Margherita, Swamp Monster and Couchon Doux. All three taste absolutely amazing, the ingredients are fresh, crust is a perfect balance of soft and a little crispy on the outside. I’m pretty “basic” and am a cheese or Margherita person, but I am SO glad I tried the more “niche” pizzas- the flavor profile on them is incredible, and the ingredients compliment each other wonderfully. I plan to order a couple to bring home 😂. 10/10 definitely recommend. This pizza is better than pizzas I’ve had in places like Chicago, Dallas and NYC, and I’ll continue to come to the dog show hosted here solely to eat here”

What makes Caro's stand out is more than the food, it's the people. The owner and staff always greet me and make every visit feel like home. If you haven't tried Caro's yet, take it from me, you should!”

Mel’s Diner – Bentley, LA

Mel’s Diner is an absolute gem in Bentley! We stopped in recently, and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. The place has that perfect small-town diner charm—warm, welcoming, and filled with friendly folks who make you feel right at home the moment you walk in.

I ordered the Chubby Checker burger, and WOW… this thing was massive and incredible. Perfectly seasoned, cooked just right, stacked high with fresh toppings, and served on a bun that held everything together like a champ. Easily one of the best—and biggest—burgers I've had anywhere in Louisiana.

Their menu is full of classic diner favorites, but what really stands out is the quality and care they put into their food. You can tell everything is made fresh, and the portions are generous. If you're hungry, this is the place to be!

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. If you're anywhere near Bentley, do yourself a favor and stop by Mel’s Diner. The Chubby Checker burger alone is worth the trip! 🍔🔥

“My grand daughter with young son and I enjoyed delicious meals - (fried fish , shrimp ,hush puppies , Fr fries , onion rings Cole slaw and Hamburger ) !! She lives in NOrleans and was so impressed with quality of the meals AND the price !! I’ve been eating there a good while and have NEVER been disappointed in any way ! Seating is a small area but not crowded feeling ! Drive up window also - give order , drive around , park , and shortly the meal is delivered to your car ! Cashier , waitress etc very polite and efficient ! 💙❤️😆”

“If you go, give your tip directly to your server in cash and tell them it's not a tip, but a gift. Koal's pays their employees weak pay and acts like they're doing them a favor. Multiple employees over the years have told me Koal's keeps the tips we pay for the servers to have saying that the employees can have them if they want to make $2 an hour. Love the food there, but I won't support them after finding this out.”
