“A friend referred me to Stone and Cloth last year, when I told her I was looking for a new stone for my breakfast table. My mother and I walked into their shop pre-lockdown and were warmly welcomed by Kelly Kirby. She gave me great suggestions for a replacement stone and a list of the Stone Distributors in town to search for my desired slab. Her suggestion for the marble was spot on and that’s the one we selected for our breakfast table. Since I placed my order during the lockdown, installation was delayed until phase 2 would allow for work to commence. During the waiting period, Kelly worked with me regarding having my existing breakfast table stone retrofitted for one of my bathroom counters. They removed the existing sink and under-mounted a new one to freshen up bathroom. At the same time, we realized the remaining piece of the slab for the breakfast table would fit perfectly in a second bathroom and a new sink under-mounted as well. We are very pleased with the excellent fabrication of all of the stone work and the installers had been polite, thorough and efficient. I highly recommend using Stone and Cloth for all of your building needs.“

It does not really seem like a discount anymore, even though you can buy high priced breads for half the price. I remember you got every brand for $0.99. I do not mind paying more but the prices have gone up exponentially. I would still recommend this store if you want great breads at a discount price.“

“When I first drove past the bakery I hardly noticed it was open. It seemed dark, but there was an “open” sign… so I wandered in to check it out. The lady who was working was very delightful. She was kind and did not rush me….everything you would want/expect from a good hometown bakery.I purchased a king cake, which I thought was fairly priced compared to other great ones I have eaten. I had a feeling it was going to be great when she asked if I minded waiting a few minutes… I assumed so she could go decorate it… she returned less than 5 minutes later with a beautiful, large cake.Fast forward to when I got home and opened the box: It smelled wonderful and tasted even better!! The bread was soft, fluffy, and not dry (which all king cake lovers know is hard to get ‘just right’)… the filling tasted great and there was just enough icing not to overwhelm the taste of the cake itself. Hands down the freshest, softest king cake I have ever eaten… and I’ve eaten a lot in my 40 years. Bravo!!“

“I went in looking for a typical Central American breakfast, eggs, sour cream, cheese, fried plantains, refried beans, and tortillas. Added sausage to my order, and it came out very good, coffee was local and on point. They offer bread as well but if you want a simple typical breakfast get it from here. Please specify how you want your eggs, I didn't and got them over easy but that's cool with me, I like it like that. The only thing missing for me was avocado but overall, good.“

“I've been here countless times for remote work. Both the inside and outside have been newly remodeled, and the atmosphere and style is cozy and very nicely designed. They have a sick outdoor courtyard that is freshly remodeled. They also have two big communal tables inside, so if you bring a big group when it's not too busy, you may be able to get one of them. The workers here are the sweetest people, and the service has always been great. As far as coffee shop pastries go, the pastries here are some of the best, if not the best, in Baton Rouge. Their homemade pop-tarts are a MUST-ORDER ITEM.. they will change the trajectory of your life!!! Their savory food items are also homemade, but they need some tweaking. All of the savory sandwiches/panini I've tried have an element of sweetness, which is weird. I wish they were saltier and less sweet, especially for anything that has egg. The grits bowl is VERY good, but I am personally freaked out by the amount of butter they put in the grits. We all know that butter makes grits taste great, but the grits at Magpie take this way way too far. I think it would be awesome if they made them with less butter, but then add the option to get more butter on the side for people who want more.

Unfortunately it would be unfair for me to comment on their coffee because I don't even like coffee. Anyway, this place is AMAZING and I highly recommend it.“
