Best Mexican in BR!

My family has been frequenting Tio Javi’s since it opened as Ninfa’s in 1993! My parents went on opening night!
Since then it’s been the location for nearly every birthday and event for our family!

The red and green salsas are iconic. You can always count on the flavors to be consistent and delicious!

Their homemade tortillas, once made for years by the legendary Mama Maria, are mouth watering good! Always fresh, soft and complimentary!

I’ve tried nearly every item on the menu but my absolute favorite will always be the Carne Picada tacos on flour tortillas! The steak is tender, juicy, and oh so craveable!

The atmosphere is inviting and family friendly but can be loud when it’s a packed house. (Weekend nights especially)

The servers are typically great! Attentive and friendly.

Tio Javi’s is a must visit spot! Just make sure to make a reservation or you may have to wait ;)

I live in Texas, so im a little particular of Tex Mex food:) The main i ordered was ok. It was a grilled chicken dish cover with cheese and peppers. It was ok. However the star of the show was the Churros. They were amazing.

I love Tio Javi's! Everyone is nice and the food is amazing. I have been here several times since moving to BR and the chicken soup never fails. I get it with shredded chicken instead of fajita chicken and I think it is so much better.

Am old favorite that is consistently great. The salsa (both red and green) is excellent. Chips are fresh. The steak fajitas are served with grilled onions, rice and beans (black, refried or charro). The tortillas are made fresh. The steak is very good quality, very lean.

Affordable with fantastic service! We were in town for the SC vs. LSU showdown on Valentine's Day and found this restaurant. Even though the place was packed, our servers were attentive and kept checking on us. The food was hands down delicious. Prepared with fresh ingredients, our meal was great! Definitely worth a visit.

This review is based partly on my own food preferences, but you might love it! Service was GREAT! I don’t like the standard beans/rice combo offered here and other Tex Mex restaurants. I’m part of the approximately 20% of the population for whom cilantro tastes like soap, so I had a hard time finding anything to meet those preferences. Other people in my group loved the food.

The service on a very crowded Saturday night was so OUTSTANDING I still had a good experience at a friend’s birthday party. I don’t know how the young man did it! If you like this menu, then by all means GO! I don’t but that’s just me.
