Food was home cooked and delicious! Always worth stopping at a hole in the wall ? our waitress was knowledgeable, answered questions I didn't know I had and made our night! We are from plaquemine and will certainly be back!
I have been eating at The First and Last Chance since 1973 when I went to work on the railroad. It is right across the street from our depot. I have had many great lunches, burgers, and poor boys there. Never had a bad meal there. I was in Donaldsonville a couple days ago for the first time in a few years, I retired from the railroad in the early 2000s. So I stopped in to get one of their hamburgers on a bun. "The Chance" is like stepping back in time, the food is excellent and different with a few home style favorites but the people make the difference. The staff were friendly, quick and are always smiling. There is always a crowd around the bar that are quick to engage you in a conversation and make you feel like a part of their community.
