I ordered the Thai Garlic Pasta with Fried Oysters, and it was so good I seriously considered ordering a second plate before I was even halfway through the first. The owner, Jimmy, is so kind and greets everyone with a warm smile. It's a neighborhood gem that's reached beyond Gretna. The staff was friendly, attentive, and quick to make recommendations, which helped a lot since the menu is pretty extensive.
The food was the real standout. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavor, with a nice balance of traditional Thai dishes and creative twists that reflect local influences. The curries were rich and well-seasoned, the noodles were generous in portion size, and the appetizers like roti and dumplings were especially memorable. You can also adjust the spice level, which is great if you want either something mild or more authentic heat.
Service was impressively fast even when busy, and the portions were large enough to share. The atmosphere can get lively, but it still works well for both casual dinners and small groups.
Overall, Banana Blossom is one of the stronger Thai restaurants in the New Orleans area. It’s a little pricier than average, but the quality, creativity, and consistency make it worth the visit.

Tucked right on Lafayette Street in Gretna, it’s easy to pass by if you’re not paying attention—but once you find it and step inside, you get it. The space is beautifully curated. Fresh flowers, thoughtful decor, and you can actually see them preparing your food… it just feels intentional.
I can honestly say there’s nothing I’ve had here that I didn’t like. And that says a lot.
The BBQ oysters? The White Lotus cocktail? Baby… I dream about those. Like real cravings. You can tell every recipe was thought through with care. Everything is consistent, fresh, and just done right.
And the service? Always beautiful. Warm, welcoming, never off.
I’m a true Banana Blossom fan girl. Every time.
