You're not gonna find any better french bread than this. Worth going outta of your way to get this french bread. In business since 1884, that should say it all. If the red light out front is on, hot fresh bread is ready. Cash only!!!
I grew up with LeJeune’s French bread in St Martinville - my cousins too!. It was the best out there. And later, during my years in college, I learned about the ginger cakes. Now that I live in California, my #1 thing to eat when visiting is, you guessed it, LeJeune’s!
I took the detour out of curiosity. The traders are friendly and the bread is not industrial. On the other hand, don't expect a crusty baguette, French bread is more of a one-pound loaf with a more compact crumb. It has preserved extremely well.
The question is: Is this the recipe for French bread made 2 centuries ago?
