We visited and bought a $100 gift certificate for some friends. These people must have known they were going to close when they sold us the gift certificate. Taking our money and closing a week later should be considered theft.
Everything we had was fresh, homemade and absolutely delicious. From the garlic knots, fried cheese sticks to the entrees, absolutely perfect.
Excellent homemade Italian food… very very good! We tried the meatball appy, the lasagna and the lobster shrimp ravioli. All were amazing…..and the prices so very reasonable. They do need to polish up their wine by the glass selections and work on the “ambiance”… (lighting and music)…all in all a very good dinner. We will go back soon..
I tried this place after ready a few reviews on google and as well as a recommendation fromSome other local “foodies”. This is a small locally run Italian restaurant and I’m not here to just bash them but just to provide a review of our dining experienceFree bread appetizer 4/10. Very dense bread without much flavor. It could use a heavy hand of garlic or maybe a dipping sauce.Pizza- 4/10 - great price for dine in pizza. But the pizza itself was just ok. Too much flop for a slice that isn’t NY style. Sauce was light and faintChicken parmigiana- 2/10Soggy breading on the chicken the moment it came outSpaghetti 5/10. A chunkier sauce that appears to be thick when it arrived but in Ed mixed in. It is a very watery sauce. Decent flavor with potentialAtmosphere 3/10. The feeling is what it is.. you are eating Italian food at a restaurant the used to be a different restaurant. There are small things they can do to give it a more Italian vibe.Service 9/10 - we were there around 8pm not many people there but plenty of server on staff and our server was very attentiveI think this place is a few tweaks away from being a good Italian option
Incredible food and our service was on point. We will definitely be going back.
Just to start, service alone was not impressive. Barely waited on. We were one of three tables, so not busy. As an appetizer, we had cheese sticks, they tasted like flour breaded cheese. Both my boyfriend and I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana. Mine came out far before his, and in that time, the two other tables got all of their food while we still waited. It seems as though the waitress messed up, but told us the kitchen was “backed up” to cover her mistake. My dish was bland, and my chicken was pure mush, to the point where my chickens bread was coming off in balls of mush. My sauce had NO flavor, and the onions were not cooked down, full on crunchy. My boyfriend’s dish, when it finally came out, you could see the pooling of the water like they hadn’t drained the noodles, and simply threw the sauce on top. The chicken looked like it was dropped in the sauce and scooped out with a ladle onto the plate. Do not listen to all the reviews of people telling you how great this place is. Olive garden tastes better. If you truly want good italian food, take the trip to Romacelli’s, or Marcello’s. Not worth the money.
This is the second time we have been. The first time the food was top notch excellent service. Today we went back because we enjoyed it. The food was bland, and the lasagna well it was nothing but marinara sauce and cheese, and the only reason I was full is because I ate the garlic cheese bread that we ordered. We asked for a Togo plate and she shook her head yea and turned around and went tend to her dishes behind there bar(REALLY) the dishes are more important that your customers. Nope we will not be back!!
The food was very good and I will definitely be back. The food is just as good as Ruffino’s or Marcello’s.
the food was great and the service was fast
My husband and I were excited to try Amore after seeing a lot of great reviews. Unfortunately, we found it to be sub-par at best. The garlic knots were delicious- I wish the rest of the meal had been too. We started with the calamari which was nothing special- definitely frozen. The side salads would have been ok, except the dressing is not served on the side and it was too much for my liking. Had I known that, I would have requested it on the side. For my main meal, I had the chicken parmigiana which was completely mush and the spaghetti with marinara served with it was bland and the pasta not drained well- I actually had a puddle of water on my plate. The chicken looked like it had been bathed in a pot of red sauce and lacked any crispiness from being fried. My husband had the lobster ravioli which was basically a dish of sauce with 4 ravioli. We both felt it tasted more like ricotta cheese stuffed ravioli with no lobster or seafood flavor; if it was in there, the cheese flavor way overpowered any seafood flavor. The sauce was creamy, but lacking in seasoning as well. Regretfully, we will not be coming back. There are far better places to get Italian food in Lafayette. Oh- and one more thing, they don't do Pizzas on the weekend which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. We would have been better off going to Olive Garden, which isn't saying much.

Delizioso!! Charming spot, delicious food, great service!Had spaghetti with meat sauce, daughter had lasagna. We were both very pleased! Fried cheese was great too! The inside is nicer than outside. Will return.
Give it a shot! The food here rivals the best Italian lafayette has to offer. Yes, it's an older building that has been home to many restaurants but the interior has been completely remodeled. The staff was exceptional and the food was first class. The complementary bread was addictive to say the least.
Walking into a place that was once our beloved Kettle, one is always a little suspicious. That space is not exactly known for high class eating. But let me tell you, without reservation, this place was absolutely marvellous. You walk into a nicely lit room, spacious without too many tables, with mellow piano jazz soaring over your head. The atmosphere is wonderful from the get-go, as are the servers, who are sadly just two at the moment due to the hiring shortage, and horrendously underappreciated for doing the serving, bussing,, the dishwashing, literally all day. They made our evening quite wonderful, and thanked us for our patients at the end, as if we have had anything to complain about..Then we get to the food, which is absolutely what I expect from good Italian. The roles for perfect, gently coated with Parmesan cheese, and the appetizer of calamari was remarkably delicate, and not too terribly filled with bread batter. For our anniversary, my wife ordered the simple spaghetti and meatballs, and it was about as good as any spaghetti I've ever eaten. The veal parmesan was spectacular, and delicate enough that it didn't fill me up too badly. In addition, the chocolate Italian cream cake with so nice that I expect I'll be talking about that for the next week, light and fluffy and extremely tasty. Even my cocktail, the blueberry lemon drop martini, was totally unexpected and perfectly marvelous. So, dear friends, trust me when I say this place is a Hidden Gem, the prices are decent for this level of cooking, the atmosphere is absolutely welcoming, and the people will treat you very well indeed. Do yourself a favor and go check them out, and soon.
