I had breakfast at this 1950’s themed diner. Very cute clean and small. Had to wait for a table but it was a Sunday morning so that was to be expected I guess; and I did say it was a small diner so doesn’t take long to fill up. Very nice atmosphere and friendly fast service. I ordered the country fried steak and eggs with grits and coffee. It comes with a biscuit but I chose not to get it. I thought it would be better. My grandsons red beans and rice was so dry could hardly eat any no juice at all. My husbands got liver , eggs, hash browns, grilled biscuit. That was his order. Liver cooked till like shoe leather, got grits instead of hash browns and biscuit not grilled. I ordered a roast beef po-boy and it was like the old Wendy’s commercial where’s the meat. First half of poboy had 1/2 slice of roast beef second half a little more. Not worth the $40. tab
Last night we came in with a big group late at night and the service from ms. Annette was out of this world! She made sure all of our orders were correct, came out hot, and always made sure our drinks were filled! At the end of our stay she even brought out a surprise dessert for the birthday girl at the table and had the whole restaurant sing to her! Best service i’ve ever received at mel’s!! Thank you ms. Annette you were outstanding!!
