I passed by this place many times and had been wanting to try it. I finally got a chance to as I was passing by on a Sunday.
I ordered two Sunday BBQ plate lunches. Overall they were tasty. Tried a few different things as sides; we had two plates.
The brisket, pork steak were both good choices.
Yams, coleslaw and baked beans as sides were all great.
The mac and cheese was pretty flavorless and weak. They could definitely improve that. I wouldn’t recommend it.
The rice dressing was ok, but nothing to write home about. It lacks some flavor. As a rice base, it’s just ok. You’ll get it regardless with a plate lunch.
The staff were friendly and personable.

What a great meat market. I no longer live in Lafayette. Whenever i an in town i make sure to stop at Tooks and get some meat. Our favorites... Bacon wrapped filets, artichoke stuffed chicken breasts, and stuffed petit pork roasts. Mmmm can't wait to get home and cook some.

Childhood in Lafayette and always went to Verons for the stuffed pork Chops. Panicked when we needed to stop on Sunday to bring some to brother for birthday. Childhood friend said to try Tooks and it was awesome. Such sweet and helpful staff and came back the the next weekend going home to bring stuff home.

Highly recommended so we bought pineapple sausage and Steen sausage. They were okay. In a city where you can get absolutely delicious sausage, these were rather bland. If you don't like spicy or hot, these are the way to go.
