This isn’t just a steakhouse, it’s an experience. I found the environment warm and ambient, reflecting the chef’s vision. The service was amazing and the food immaculate. The cocktails are fun too. The restaurant fits perfectly with Lafayette’s downtown essence as well. It’s an experience I won’t forget.

The restaurant was a little loud, but otherwise it was a beautiful and intimate setting. It was pretty dim inside with modern decor. The food was the star. We indulged with a wide sampling of the menu- bone marrow, oysters, crawfish bisque, beef tartare, foccacia, and crab spaghetti and everything was fantastic but the real star was the Lenten special of the Thai mussels. Literally the best thing we've ever eaten. Tender and bursting with flavor. I'd go back just for those. The drinks were also delicious and the service was great. Wonderful dinner with my love.

This was our second visit to Vestal. We requested a quiet table in the back and were seated next to the kitchen and a noisy party of 10 people. The food was very good but the restaurant was so loud, we couldn't hear ourselves talking. Don't eat here if you want a quiet meal.

Everything was delicious. I usually comment on each and every dish and beverage but honestly they were all amazing. We started off with spinach and artichoke dip. We shared a wedge salad and crawfish bisque. I had the whole fish, and my wife had the gulf catch fish of the day. We finished it off with a special pear desert. The drinks were the Dick Whittington and Italian wine.

This was a pretty good experience. The food was good and the portions are huge. We got a few appetizers, drinks and shared an entree. The appetizers and entrees were both very good. They were also very good if you have a shellfish allergy. The service was excellent and our waiter made sure we were well taken care of. Their specialty cocktails were very good but I probably would not recommend going outside of the cocktail menu as the more traditional cocktails we ordered were just not as good. Overall a good experience and would definitely be happy to go back ago.

Aside from their culinary mastery and expertise in mixology, Vestal consistently achieves what should be every restaurant's ideal: the experience of welcoming a guest into their home. I've traveled the world, and I am relieved to discover again and again that I have my favorite restaurant in my own hometown.

Had a great experience at Vestal overall. The visit was for our anniversary, which I had designated upon reservation. Most “nice” restaurants in Lafayette (I.e. Tsunami, Ruffinos, etc) acknowledge special visits, but vestal did not. Not a huge deal, but just an observation. It took over 10 minutes once we were seated before our server acknowledged us, which, again, is unusual, in my opinion, for a “fine dining” restaurant with very high prices and an a la carte menu. It was a Saturday night and a special evening, so we were in no particular rush. The food was great as expected and the drinks were unique and tasty. Our server was very friendly and we shared some laughs with him, which actually allowed us to overlook the things that I listed here. He also gave us some great, honest suggestions when we asked questions about the menu items. We will definitely be back in the future.

I took my wife here for her birthday. We started with a couple of cocktails, a plate of roasted oysters, and the bone marrow on toast. The bone marrow was an interesting experience, the cocktails were great, and the oysters were fine (though we've had better at other local restaurants). For dinner we ordered the crab spaghetti with potato fingerlings and the braised short ribs over potato mash with a side of macaroni. The crab spaghetti had absolutely no flavor (I've had spaghetti aglio e olio with more bite) and the potatoes were overcooked. My wife's short ribs had the texture but not the taste of well cooked beef (again, very bland), and she did not touch her macaroni (she claimed they smelt off, though that might be the pregnancy). I'd expect better seasoning given the restaurant is located in central Acadiana, but I'd have settled for only salt and pepper - sadly, even that didn't seem to be included in our $250 order. We both agreed to skip dessert.I've heard from multiple people that this is one of the best restaurants in the area, and both the atmosphere and service (A+, front of house staff were excellent) led me to believe that'd be the case. Unfortunately, the food did not meet expectations. I've had better meals at local truck stops and gas stations for 1/10th of the price.
