Place had great atmosphere, and great staff. Was very disappointing that they closed. I think it was premature. This area seems like it is updating and at some point will be a great avenue to bring nightlife to Lake Charles, very sad

There were 5 tables of customers, and their food and service was bad. Their pork "roast" tasted old and was hard. It was served with salty tiny portion of vegetables. Hubby's fish was served very cold. Ordered cornbread appetizer. They served 1/2 inch flat cakemix like cake with no cornmeal. They were out of macaroni crab dish at noon. Waitress was not service oriented. The meal cost $47. I didn't eat more than 3 bites and left. The place was nice, but they should stick with serving alclahol.

I'll give three stars because there is a nice and friendly atmosphere at the cafe. However, the food particularly for brunch was not impressive at all. There are quite a few options to choose from but of everything the only thing that was appetizing was the omelet. Who wants to pay almost $30 to eat only an omelet and ultimately leave to find something else to eat? I would likely try the Blue Dog Cafe again, but definitely not for brunch!

I don't know what it is with the haters, local and traveling. This place is the bees' knees! Perfect live music, incredible gourmet uniqueness and variety...

Fun lunch menu. Creole/Cajun influenced cuisine. Super! Nice dining atmosphere and pleasant knowledgeable staff.

This place is nothing like the one in New Orleans. Poor quality of food all around. Even the way they plate the food is subpar. Save your self and find another place to eat. They don't even serve the full menu. They have created their own menu because they don't know how to cook everything on the real Blue Dog Cafe menu. It's embarrassing to know they carry the Blue Dog name and serve food like this.

Not much choice. Food wasn't well seasoned. Overhead fans on high cooled food before you had a chance to finish. Value for quality was exorbitant.

I made a quick stop here for lunch during a road trip through Lafayette. The setting was nice and elegant, with captivating blue dog artworks on the walls. There was a stage for live music, but I expected that would be for evening performances. We sat at the bar, and were immediately greeted by a courteous bartender who took our orders. The blue dog burger seemed fairly unique to me since the inner surfaces of the bun had been toasted to a significant crunch. I actually did enjoy my meal. The restaurant was noticeably silent during my visit though. Some background music would've been a great addition. Overall good impression.

This is a nice restaurant. It has a pretty decent selection. Live entertainment performs sometimes which is kind of nice. Otherwise it seems like the place is just extremely quiet!

Came in wanting to try the po boy, but apparently that's only lunch (but the menu on Google doesn't indicate that) Then everything on the evening menu except a burger puts you at over 20 dollars before tip. So I'm pretty bummed to say the least. It was recommended for late night eats so I figured there would be some more reasonable prices and more casual food.

Previously enjoyed this place. Our food was cold and the portion size was quite small for the price. Server offered to heat my plate up, but if I wanted to eat microwaved leftovers I'd have just eaten at home. Now I know why every restaurant downtown was full tonight and this place was not even a quarter full.

Excellent service, charming atmosphere, creative design and absolutely the best roasted chicken breast, vegetables and blue cornbread on earth!

Food was lukewarm and soft shell crab was over-cooked and fishy. Duck breast was tough, rubbery and not crisp. Was expecting great things due to experience with the Lafayette restaurant. Hope this was an off night. It was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Awesome decor. Awesome Rodrigue art. Pleasant neighborhood.

An amazing place filled with great Art and new orleans style food. The atmosphere is wonderful. The server was friendly. There are lower calorie options if you want them. The flour less chocolate cake? Where do I start? Drool worthy and worth every bite!!!!!

This place is awesome! Stopped by on a Saturday night, and there was live music. The atmosphere was great; art with blue dog overlays was really eclectic, but made a great scene. They have a huge floor for the eating area, and the tables are reasonably spread out... not smashed together to jam tables in; great to have room to talk and breath during your meal! Service was great; they took a mixed drink back to the bar and remade it after we didn't like the flavor... a drink!! The prices are very reasonable for the portions and quality that you get. I highly recommend the Half-and-half and the Louisiana Purchase. If you happen to be in Lake Charles or driving through, stop by Blue Dog!
