Service was horrible. In fact, there was no service. We left after 15 minutes waiting for someone to take our order. They didn't even offer us water.

Our group came in late on a Thursday, about 45 minutes before closing because one person was coming from out of town and hit a lot of traffic. The chairs in one section had already been put up on the tables to get ready for last cleanup and we weren't even sure they were open but the waitress told us to come on in. She gave recommendations, told us what was seasonal but there were some problems in the kitchen that required picking some new side dishes. No biggie. Stuff happens.
The food came out nice and hot, fast and it looked every bit as nice as some of the pictures we'd seen. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, with a great smile (I miss those). I had the crawfish half-n-half and it was delicious. Of course, when I'm able and the service is that good, I try to make sure the tip is worth it. I made sure she got a nearly 50% tip. I hope to come back soon.

Sat at the bar because the wait is long , mind you … the restaurant is not full (but I understand you are short staff ) so let me tell you about my experience… bartender was fast and promptly but you could not get a smile out of that girl (she looked like she was about to brake someone’s neck with her look only). But like I said she was fast and promptly so we ignored it… but then you have this skinny little girl with a tattoo on her neck talking profanity out loud and talking about how she is the only one sat and she cannot help with anything in the bar because she doesn’t know nothing about the bar . (I get it you are busy but … keep the profanity for home )
It’s a public place … it’s your JOB! You don’t like it … what can I say I’m sure someone as good and fast can find a job somewhere else ; but been rude doesn’t get anywhere but to a bad Google review.
So that was my experience food was great but service … something else .
Tip good but the slamming of everything on the bar specially the bar tab was unnecessary.
Thanks for the great food … will I go back ? Yes but will order to go.

I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. There wasn't that many people in there. I was able to snag a seat at the bar. The barista was very friendly and attentive. I started with a fried fish poboy and fries. Man did it hit the spot. The fish was fried just right, and so were the fries. The atmosphere is really pleasant, especially if you like laid back soul music.
There is accessible parking and entrance.

I am so bummed with this place. We drive in almost 3 hours to eat at least once a month. This was probably our 4th visit. The last visit was kind of off, I remember thinking maybe they are having a long weekend. It happens.
So today is a wed night . Not a weekend. We arrived went straight to restroom after the 3 hour drive. It was gross. It was about 6pm. Got out of bathroom and there wasn't a hostess so we sat ourselves. The ambiance in the room was weird. There were about 4 young black girls who looked to be the servers for the night. 2 were on their phones and one was at the bar making drinks. The other one was getting food out. There were 7 black men sitting at the bar and a,couple at a table near the bar. Thats it. We seated ourselves at the last 2 seats at the bar. Waited about 10 minutes for someone to cone and take a drink order. They saw us there but kinda was just ignored. I got the attention of the server making a drink. Order 2 teas which were cloudy and tasted old. Returned them and got water. I didn't see any food comin out but there was a lot of drinks being served.. we were hungry so my patience was zero. We needed some food. Ordered cup of sausage and chkn gumbo. After 20 minutes I asked the server to check on it.as,she was going to it came out. It was cold so she sent it to be warmed up. By that time I ate half a pound of crackers..I kept the menu to decide what I wanted for entre'. Food was coming out to the guys around the bar finally and wow what a mess. Food looked thrown on the plates, and they were all screwed up. The server wasn't trained on the menu or food delivery so she had to have help trying to straighten it out and get it to the right people. Right when she would give them their plates the were complaining about something not right on the plate. At that point were felt defeated , decided to pay for our gumbo and give up. It was 8 by the time and still hungry so we paid and went elsewhere to eat. ĹNever have we done that. We drove to eat there. Didn't happen. The place has no management there that night. The clientele was different and uynot motivated to eat but hang out and drink..only 9 tr3le ttyhere and maybe that's why. Dont know what's the bigger conern..service or quality of food served and staff without culinary class to understand àow to do their jobs. We hope lthey get it together. We won't b returning..too many other places to go to for the drive. Sad really.

Every time my husband and I visit Lake Charles, Tad’s is our first stop—and it never disappoints. The catfish nuggets with gumbo are our go-to lunch special, and they’re always cooked to perfection. Their sweet tea is consistently refreshing, and the desserts seal the deal every time. What we love most is the variety on the menu—there’s always something new to try, yet the classics never fail. Tad’s has become our must-visit spot in Lake Charles, and honestly, we rarely go anywhere else because it checks all the boxes. Highly recommend!
