Chaps Chicken

For a hole-in-the wall chicken joint, I was surprised to find that the chicken is some of the best I've had. Always hot and fresh. The down side of that is that it takes a while to get served because the chicken is always cooked fresh to order. No problem, really. Just call in the order in advance and come eat it at the restaurant. It usually takes about 20 minutes. I do like me some spicy Popeye's, but for quality, you can't beat Chaps!

The fried chicken is great: crispy skin, juicy meat, cooked in peanut oil, not spicy.

The crispy chicken is something you won't want to share !!Must check out their baked goods that simply melt in your mouth

So I ordered Chaps for the first time today. I got the 8 piece mixed with an order of Gravy Cheese Fries.i got the order fairly quickly which was good. The Gravy Fries was good. The chicken on the other hand, was just there. It was juicy, it was breaded well and crunchy, but it was just brand all around. It wa cooked like chicken should. Bit it definitely was not seasoned like chicken should be. Don't get me wrong, it was good chicken on average. But for the price, compared to other places, should have been much better. Was it a decent place? Yes. Would I go there again? Maybe to try the other sides and perhaps something else other than their chicken. Which would be the point of going there. So I am giving it 3 Stars because it wasn't bad, or good. It was just eh.

Waited 40 minutes for a 2 piece with mac n cheese. After getting it, the chicken was so bland. No flavor whatsoever other than grease. Had to dump salt on it to make it edible. The lady at the counter was also extremely rude which didn’t help the experience at all. Never coming back.

I really hate to do this because the young lady at front desk was so kind.. this has got to be the blandest chicken I’ve ever had in my life. No flavor. Fried perfectly but literally just tastes like crust. I didn’t even know chicken could be that bland. Unfortunately won’t come back.Update*** the red bean side was a nice portion but honestly they were just as flavorless as the chicken. So I had to reduce to 1 star. If you have hypertension or any other ailment that prevents you from tolerating any seasonings then this is the place for you. Bland land.

Everything. Food is great. Probably the best chicken in town. The staff is even better. We dine here every so often and ALWAYS had a great experience. The politeness of the staff is very noticeable and they are extremely professional.

Takes a minute to come out but hot n juicy inside crispy on the outside.I had the chicken n the fish, both amazing. Friendly staff.N lucky me, their around the corner.

I found this place about a month ago and have come back every week!!! The chicken is so darn good, It's not hot and spicy like most places around here. And the macaroni and cheese is really good as well. Best of all you don't have to show your papers or wear a diaper on your face just to go in and eat a meal. I won't eat anywhere who asks for my papers or wants me to wear a diaper

I'd been flirting with the idea of trying this place for sometime now. I'm glad I finally went for it! Got a 2-piece (breast and thigh) and the creamed spinach for my side. It was a very painful ride home having to smell it and I had to fight myself to keep from digging right in in my truck. The skin was very crispy and very flavorful. I'll definitely be back to try the chicken sandwich!
