Ristorante Filippo is fantastic. The staff is so welcoming and friendly. We are in Metairie about every three months. We tried the restaurant in May and had an excellent dining experience. This visit, our server, Micah, was great. He was knowledgeable of the menu items and attentive to our every need. We ordered the eggplant medallions with marinara appetizer and puppy drum almondine with seasonal vegetables entree. Everything exceeded our expectations. We will definitely go back in November when we are in Metairie.

The ambiance is charming and cozy. Megan our waitress was attentive and cheerful. The meatballs are huge and the marinara sauce is yummy with a slight spicy kick. The veal sorrentina is a delicious blend of veal, eggplant, prosciutto and mozzarella cheese. The bread was warm and a satisfying addition to the meal. I look forward to returning. Hard to believe this was my first time to enjoy this Italian delight.

I explored a restaurant with excellent food and a nice ambiance for us in the Metarie area and settled on Ristorante Filippo based on reviews and menus. I made a 6:00 reservation and arrived at about 5:45. The restaurant was not busy but we were seated in the bar in a corner where I had to crawl over my chair to get in and out so my husband was not sitting in the lap of the man at the table behind him. I would think with. reservation, you would get a better table location and not be seated in a noisy bar. It was loud and difficult to talk. On to the food... I ordered a caesar salad and our waitress brought me an italian salad, which was my husband's order. I don't like italian salad. He did get his correctly. The server replaced it with my correct order after sending another server to chase her down. Main course- i ordered eggplant parmigiana and I did not like the marinara sauce flavor at all. My husband had drumfish, which I found tasty. He was neutral on taste. Last big problem- service was very poor. We could never find our server when we needed anything so we had to ask another server in our area to either get what we needed or find our server. It was a very disappointing meal.

Veal Piccata came with a lemon brown butter sauce. Tasted nothing like veal piccata Pasta was very salty. Had Caprese salad with no basil and so much pepper in the dressing I couldn't even eat it. Food was very disappointing.

Old school Italian at its finest. Filipino is a cozy little place with food to die for. Italian for Italians. Sue and Micah treat every customer like you have been coming here for years. Reservations are recommended but not required. The Marsala is exquisite, but don’t be afraid to try everything!

My friend and I met here for early dinner. Reservations are a must because it is a very small restaurant. The ambience is lovely and everyone super friendly! Unfortunately I didn't even think to take pics but food was wonderful. We got the crab claws for app and they were finger licking scrumptious! I got the chicken piccata which was good. My friend got the lasagna which came in a huge bowl, I tried a little taste and wow, the red gravy was delicious! We enjoyed our dining experience

Hidden gem. BEST Almandine fish in the city. I know it's Italian and all those dishes are fabulous as well but I was born and raised here and hands down the fish is stunning. You'll be taking home to go as well.
