We were passing thru on our way to Texas on I20. We stopped at Longhorn Steakhouse in Monroe, LA for dinner.
The hostess told us there would be a 15 min wait. We looked around and the place was almost empty. I made a comment about that and she mumbled something about a ‘pawdy’.
Well, we didn’t stay. 5 miles down the road there are 3 more steak restaurants (Texas Roadhouse, Logan’s Steakhouse, Outback). We chose Texas Roadhouse. The place was buzzing but we were seated and served right away.
The Longhorn in Monroe is seriously mismanaged. Understaffed. Why? Are they treating their employees badly? Are they greedy not to hire more? Or does word get around and people don’t want to work there? We will never know because we’re never going back.
Upon arrival, we noticed it was pretty busy, nothing unusual. We entered the restaurant and told it would be a 25 minute wait, that was not a problem so we give the host our name and number and proceeded outside to wait. After about 45 minutes we hadn’t been called so we went in to check only to find a young man at the hostess counter, so we asked if we were overlooked and he said that we were at the top of the list but no phone number was available I assured him that my number was given and repeated back to me. After we were finally seated it took another 20 mins before anyone came to our table to take our drink and appetizers order. When I waitress finally arrived she took our order brought out the bread but we waited another ten minutes for silverware and our bread had become cold by then. The food did come out kind of quickly, we were asked if we wanted a refill that only came after we asked for the check. I normally have a great experience with Longhorns as it is one of my favorite restaurants, but was very disappointed last night.
