One of my favorite New Orleans bars. It's got a nice vibe to it, and a great whiskey selection as well. They also have really cool seasonal drinks if you ever go during Christmas time.

"Standing on business" being the apparent theme this year, I wasn't gonna write about this but I can't let what I believe and feel to be racism go. This happened a while ago and I'm not sure if the same girl is even working here anymore because I've yet to come back since this encounter. Don't know her name but she's the Native American-looking chic with tattoos. Just rude and doesn't deserve to be in hospitality imo. First I was straight up ignored for a solid 10 minutes at the bar as she breezed past me multiple times, purposefully taking other's orders. Then when she can finally ignore me no more, takes my order and proceeded to tell me she has to run my card first before making my drink. I was furious. I know this not to be the case. I was the only black guy at the bar waiting to order as she served literally every other white person there, I even watched her take other's orders without having to tell anyone else that their card had to be ran first. It was my girl that had to put it more into perspective for me because I also work in hospitality and was just giving her the benefit of the doubt but eff that! She sucks. From what I've been hearing of other people's experience at Barrel Proof lately has not been exactly stellar either. Apparently mostly everyone that works there has the worst attitudes and must hate their jobs. Word of the wise to y'all: f^*king quit. Y'all should be making good enough money over there for how busy y'all get and there's plenty of other happy, qualified service industry workers that should take y'all's place and bring the good vibes back from the Bridge Lounge days. Nobody else stood out to me as far as bad service went except that girl, you know who you are, go kick rocks barefooted down Bourbon.

They have a great whisky selection, and my drink was good. I didn't really like the space, but I can't explain why. I guess it's just huge and very dark and kinda boring other than the taxidermied cat, which is just creepy.

We went Sunday after the Saints game. What could have been a great experience turned into a total disaster. Our 21 year old had a drink in the alligator glass. The bar back stood over her as she finished her drink, grabbed it from her and put it in his dish bin. Then walked to the man at the door and said she was stealing the glass (he had taken the glass and put it in his dirty dish bin). As we were leaving the bouncer starts patting the 21 year old down. Extremely rude and would not stop yelling at us. Drinks were not good!! It took 45 minutes to get a drink. The fact that this older man at the door kept trying to pat everyone down for an alligator glass is beyond ridiculous.

All are not treated equally at this place. Bartenders look over ppl of color, not wanting to serve them! When asking for a drink, ppl of color are served in plastic cups when others are served in nice glasses. It's 2023 this shouldn't be. BTW the drinks aren't good, and that's the truth outside of the experience!
