The fish isn't real catfish it's Swai & I like catfish. I wish restaurants would make this clear to customers cause some of us know the difference, & after asking she still swore it was real catfish i k ow REAL FISH. Paid for our food & our waiter never came back with my change, never assume someone is leaving a tip cause I wasnt, I wasn't satisfied with the Swai.

I grew up eating at Barrow's in the 90s. I am disappointed that they served me Swai ( basa) in sted of N. American Catfish. Everything else was good but they should at least advertise Swai if that's what's being served.

Barrow's Catfish - Poydras location We ordered the Barrows catfish entree with potato salad, smothered seafood okra with catfish, and shrimp and spinach rolls. The texture of the catfish was amazing! I wish that it had a tad bit more seasoning but I would definitely order it again. The smothered seafood okra was a taste of southern comfort and just delicious. The rolls were nicely cooked with just the right amount of crunch. Con (to some): The catfish is farm raised.
I recently traveled to New Orleans from. VIRGINIA and someone recommended Barrow's as one of the places I must try when I asked about eating some good food. Listen, the food is amazing; however this review is about the service. The day I went, there was a Garth Brooks concert and other events happening. EXTREMELY hectic and busy time. The man who greeted me at the door was wearing many hats that day, (greeter, server, bar tender etc) and it was high stress but he maintained his professionalism, never lost his cool, and still made my experience wonderful. Unfortunately, staff had called out on a holiday weekend. I just want to say thank you and send words of encouragement to this young man and the establishment. Although things were not perfect, you gave me a wonderful experience and I was proud to see a black owned establishment make even the toughest time work and with grace and professionalism. I would recommend Barrow's Catfish on Poydras to everyone. It's clean, great service, and amazing food!!!! Can't wait to come back. Btw, my grandmother who had a stroke and is in the nursing home loved it. I had to take her a plate after I left the restaurant. Her face lit up and she was soooo happy. Thank you again.

In town for a conference and found this gem while looking for seafood by the Hyatt Regency. This is a MUST to stop by for any visitors in NOLA!!! Beautifully plated food with excellent taste. If you like a little kick in your food, you have to try the potato salad. Freshly made and oh so delicious!!! Excellent customer service and amazing food! Don’t be fooled by google maps, this location on Poydras next to chick-fil-a is OPEN!

I tried Barrow’s Catfish (Harvey) for the first time on 8/28/23 and had the worst dinner ever. The worst $30 poboy ever, the bread was so hard that it was almost impossible to break without force. The shrimp were under seasoned, but okay. However the oysters were by far the WORST, as they were fried hard and dried out. They appeared to have been sitting for hours. Food was definitely a 0/10, I ate the shrimp and a few oysters.
Food Amazing! Service Amazing! Crawfish and corn bisque, omgeee amazing, poboy amazing! Pink lemonade, buy that! Lol must try this spot and great loaction. New location opened up near Amtrak station in NOLA!

I love the fried catfish, potato salad and the crawfish bisque. The gumbo is one of my favorites in the city. I can’t wait until they open back up.

My server insisted on things be her way versus the way we actually wanted it. I told her I wanted a medium steak and she suggested medium well. I said no. I want my steak done medium not medium well. Depsite my efforts she brought me out a welldone steak. I should have sent it back. I couldnt even eat it. My experience the first time was better. I will never let her wait on me again.
Small but well designed space. Well seasoned food and excellent service. We had the shrimp po boy, the catfish and the praline cheesecake. Sides were the Cajun Mac and cheese and potato salad. Loved the Cajun Mac and cheese. All the food was really good and reasonably priced. Will definitely come back when I'm in New Orleans again
Maaaan this place was delicious!! Crab claws were on point!!
Absolutely amazing!
