Came here during Superbowl 2025 for an activation and everything was so amazing and the food was great! I was excited to return but my recent lunch meal here was a big disappointment. The food was cold, didn't taste fresh and something just seemed different from my last experience. Maybe kitchen staff/chef has changed but I will not be returning again. The host was amazing and the server was friendly but a little tone deaf on our responses to the meals.
I took my partner and his sons Filip and Danny to Palace Cafe for Danny's 15th birthday, and it exceeded my expectations in every way. It probably wasn't the best place to take a 15 year old, but I loved it. They brought us 2 exceptional appetizers- crab cheesecake and oyster loaf and brought Danny a serving of white chocolate bread pudding. From Jorge's greeting at the beginning to the last drop of wine it was a perfect evening.
Jazz brunch was such a great experience, along with a wonderful atmosphere, and fantastic food!
My memory of their Ramos Gin Fizz brought me back to this restaurant. However, they were no longer on the menu but John the manager went out of his way to go back to the kitchen find all of ingredients and the bartender whipped up 2 of the best Ramos Gin Fizz's ever. It was well worth the trip from Arkansas to be there. Oh and the food was great also.
Enjoyed very much. Surprise impromptu entertainment was great!! Entrees were delicious! Server was kind and very attentive!
Our group enjoyed the oyster loaf, the steak frites, the fresh fish, the french dip sandwich, the white chocolate bread pudding, the raspberry sorbet, the rum cake and the cajun coffee (chicory). It was encouraging that the bread pudding and cajun coffee were the same deserts that amazed us on our first visit to Palace Cafe 30 years ago. Nice to see some great things never change. Our waitstaff, Destiny, was professional, personable and pleasant during our meal, a real treat in our experience.
Great food. We had the salmon with salad. The salmon was well prepared and was delicious. We also had the crab cheesecake. My dining partner gobbled it up, but I wasn't as enamored. I think I have traditional cheesecake in my head. My cocktail was fabulous. I had the garden party. Yum! The table next to us was very loud, but I'm not sure how you'd correct that
Fantastic! We celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary with a lovely dinner. Even our table was decorated to make the evening more special. Our server was Knowles. He is a wonderful human and his level of service towards us was great!!!!!š¤š¾ā¤ļø
We ordered two of their most popular dishes, according to our server. The food was at best mediocre compared to the price of the dishes. Perhaps, these dishes will work in places where rice and fish are not served very often.
We arrived right on time for our reservation, they asked us to wait a few minutes and seated us within 5 minutes. It took the server quite a while to greet our table and for another staff member to bring water. We had been waiting long enough that we ordered drinks, appetizers, and our meals when he greeted us. The server misunderstood our order and only one of the appetizers came at first, that one came quickly, before drinks even hit the table and 2 of the three drinks were sodas. When the first app hit the table we clarified that we each ordered the starter and he said he'd get another right out. The second one took quite a long time and we each ate appetizers separately. We both got the crawfish fondue and it was not very good. It wasn't very hot, was very under seasoned and mostly a cheesy goop with few crawfish. Dinner arrived shortly after the second appetizer got to the table. 2 of us ordered the French dip and were disappointed. It was not hot, lacked the horseradish sauce it claimed to have, and the fries were also cold and very undercooked. Dessert and coffee were the only thing I enjoyed. Server was mostly attentive but seemed disinterested in our table. We are local and dine here a couple times a year before going to the theater but we will likely not be back for some time. It was very disappointing as we've had better meals in the past.

We were directed to a 2-top table ā but one of the musicians had his stool backed into one of the 2 chairs. The hostess should have asked him to repositionā or he should have been more aware that someone was now being seated in that space. But we were left to handle it. Two people cannot occupy the same space. The insulting part was when we asked to be put at another tableā the room was mostly empty at 2pmā the only offer we got was to go to the bar to sitā even though I had a reservation. At that point WE did the common sense action and moved the chair to a side positionā I was not going to the bar!! Obviously made to feel like we were bothering them by being there??? Not important enough to be seated in a chair.
We went for the Saturday Jazz Brunch and overall it was fairly underwhelming. We decided to go based on all the positive reviews but were definitely disappointed. The food was just mediocre and the service was poor. I don't think we'll be back.
A wonderful place to sample a bit of the best New Orleans has to offer. I never pass up an opportunity to eat a Brennan family restaurant!
Outstanding food, ambiance and service. I had the special soft shell crab entree that blew me away.
It was our wedding anniversary and Palace cafe is always our go to. We made reservations and requested a second floor table next to the window. When we got there they said the second floor was closed. No apologies. Then the lady took us to our table and said āthis is the best we can do for you.ā It was on the first floor in the middle of the floor. They could have called and told us they couldn't accommodate us. OWe would have gone somewhere else. By that time it was too late to move restaurants. It was certainly not the celebratory place we've come to appreciate. We live in Birmingham than and still come in for that restaurant. t try to out us at a window table on the first floor. No suggestions. Very unapologetic.
