Best Gumbo

Corner convenience store and hot bar. They're basically a neighborhood institution at this point. While I came for a shrimp po boy, they literally have anything fried you can think of. Plus being New Orleans, you got pho and fried rice as well. My shrimp po boy was good, the bread wasn't chewy or dry and had a decent amount of shrimp. You can also get your drinks, beer, and other snacks and food stuffs.

Gumbo: 8/10. Flavor is there for sure! It comes piping hot! And you can ask for light rice if that's your preference.
Fried Shrimp: 8/10. Again, flavor there! Crunch is audible, yet the shrimp is juicy!

It's worth a stop indeed!

Boiled crawfish was small, soggy and had a weird sweet taste. First time throwing crawfish away. Wouldn’t recommend.

food okay a lot of selections but the PASTA seems to be spoil and started separating. They stingy with RICE FOR GUMBO. But wants to charge for extra.the Gumbo went up and has RAW the shrimps are rubbery and hard. The seafood corn is tough.

I gotta find a new gumbo store. Just left this establishment due to witnessesing food contamination. A previous guest bought gumbo and spilled outside. He brought the wasted gumbo back to the service counter inside of the bag with the busted container. The l a dy behind the counter took the bag and poured the contaminated gumbo inside the new pot of gumbo and proceeded to put the contaminated gumbo on the line for service. ServSafe 101 teaches you should discard returned food. Just in case anyone gets sick from a food born illness this happened Tuesday 3/17/26 at approximately 6:45pm cst. This happened publicly in front of multiple guest; I can only imagine what happens when no one is looking.

This place got a lot of amazing reviews. I'm always looking for some great food when visiting a place. I have been to New orleans plenty of times and want to try somewhere new to eat and check out some of the places social media people talks about.
So I had to try it when I got to New orleans. Me and my 3 other friends was very disappointed. We order pretty much of everything $120 from a corner store. Sometimes they have the best food. Gumbo, fried shrimps, fried crab, fried chicken, red beans and rice, pork chops and some other stuff because this convent store/ liquor store hads all the food. I know everything can't be amazing but been in new orleans please at least the gumbo and red beans and rice should have been on point. The fried shrimps was good. Very,Very disappointed.
