Over a 5 year span it appears Nina has lost her touch. Today we had one of the worst tasting experiences that we have ever had at a restaurant. Our Ceviche had enough cilantro to support a taco stand for a weeks worth of business and it also lacked salt. Our salad entrees had more mint than I have ever seen in a single dish. The salad itself only tasted like mint and the mint had to be removed. We were given 20% off to make up for our experience. I felt like that wasn’t enough and honestly I think both the ceviche and salad should be removed from the menu. It pains me to write this review because this restaurant was once one of my favorite places to dine in town. Sadly it no longer is and I’m not sure if I will be back. I can still taste the mint in my mouth.

Compère Lapin has amazing service and a great atmosphere. It was a busy night for them but they were still very attentive and the food came out relatively fast. The pasta was tasty though nothing exceptional, especially when considering the price. They have a beautiful bar, so I'd more likely return for a drink next time.

We had dinner at the bar having failed to get reservations online. Our three main courses were all excellent with distinct flavors, identifiable fresh ingredients and perfect sauces and textures. Recipes are complex incorporating many ingredients but the end result is beautifully integrated flavors, with each ingredient performing a role in the overall taste profile. Desserts were equally delicious. We were also treated to expert cocktails concocted by Eric, who provided great, laid back conversation.
It’s expensive but the food, drinks and service are top notch.

The food has a Caribbean influence and is excellent. Great atmosphere and service. Ceviche with coconut cream, curry goat, homemade sciatelia pasta and mango creme brulee were excellent.

Compère Lapin puts a Caribbean twist on Creole dishes, and everything we tried was fantastic. The jalapeño hush puppies were perfectly crisp on the outside with a deliciously creamy center, making for an excellent start. The green papaya salad was bright, tangy, and full of fresh flavor. The bass collar stood out as the most unique dish of the night—beautifully cooked and packed with bold, unexpected flavors. The curried goat with sweet potato gnocchi was outstanding; the gnocchi were light and pillowy, while the rich, well-spiced curry tied everything together perfectly.

The staff was warm, attentive, and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations and making the experience even better. The atmosphere had a moody yet inviting vibe, with dim lighting and stylish decor that made for a relaxed but lively evening.

If you’re in New Orleans, Compère Lapin is a must-visit. The thoughtful fusion of flavors, excellent execution, and welcoming ambiance make it a standout dining experience.

Was very happy with the service on a large party, all of the food was delicious with a true creole flavor. The fried chicken paired with the coconut grits with something I will be thinking about in the future, as well as the mango crème brûlée.
