Arrived as the band was taking a break, ordered 2 drinks for $30 (one cocktail turned out to be almost $20 - so the cocktails are expensive and fairly small here), then as we waited for our drinks, the bar switched the lights on and kicked everyone out for some kind of VIP event. should have let us know before ordering drinks. Really poor experience - you pay for drinks, get no music, then get kicked out.

If you only have on night to hear some great jazz/funk in NOLA, DBA is your go-to venue! It's my first stop for great music on Frenchmen's Street.
Opened in 2000 by founder Tom Thayer in the Marigny Triangle neighborhood, d.b.a. quickly established itself as a destination for authentic live jazz, brass bands, funk, and other local rhythms that reflect the city’s rich musical heritage. Over more than two decades, it has hosted an array of local and regional acts, becoming a beloved stop for both residents and visitors seeking genuine New Orleans music in an intimate, energetic setting.
Seating is limited, drinks are strong, everyone is in a party mood and excited about the great musicians performing. John Boute performance has been a stand-out in my visit's but always leave with a smile on your face. And great music on the streets as you head towards home!

Popped in to hear a band and am so sad we missed the majority of their show! The men out front were very kind and welcoming, and the performers were so talented! Bar tenders were also attentive. Will definitely be back!

Can’t believe it took me this long to heap praise on this venue. Clean, safe, great bar, great acts and quintessential New Orleans.

Open a tab, stay the evening and you won’t be disappointed.

DBA is a high-energy live music venue that is a staple on Frenchmen Street. It's known for its authentic, intimate atmosphere and commitment to showcasing the best of New Orleans music.
The music is superb, featuring an eclectic mix of authentic jazz, funk, brass bands, and Zydeco that definitely encourages dancing. They also have a good selection of beer and spirits on Frenchmen, so drinks are excellent.

We didn't catch her name, but the gal who helped us had a K on her necklace. She was amazing! She even walked us to the Spotted Cat for our next stop. Please tell her a HUGE thank you from the two girls with the vodka soda 🩷
