Warning to others, the marinara is spicy! It’s our own fault because we didn’t realize it was creole style Italian.
Service was slow probably because there wasn’t an empty table in the house.
Due to the limited seating, it’s very crowded and loud inside hard to hear the person sitting right across from you.
As a local we've been wanting to try Adolfos for years...
Made the mistake coming in last night...crazy expensive food and the service wasn't great. When we asked for a cocktail she said it was probably better to go downstairs...
How this restaurant is on top of peoples list blows my mind...one of the worst meals I have ever had in the city of New Orleans.
Never again.
Obviously my favorite restaurant!

Adolfo’s Restaurant is a charming, cozy spot in New Orleans that offers delicious Italian and Creole dishes. Housed in a former 100-year-old apartment above a bar, it has a unique and intimate vibe that many find special. The restaurant is small, with about 12 tables, creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Visitors often praise the friendly, attentive service, with staff like Amy and a jolly lady who make guests feel at home.
The menu features a variety of local favorites and house specialties. One of the most loved dishes is the Ocean sauce, which is described as pure magic, especially when paired with their bread. The stuffed flounder with ocean sauce is highly recommended, as are the Chicken Vincent and a chicken dish with capers, lemon, and artichoke. The special mussels with white wine and garlic, along with veal Frances and steak Scotty, are also highly praised for their well-prepared flavors. Desserts like chocolate mousse cake and limoncello cake add a sweet finish to the meal.
Despite its small size and sometimes cramped space, many guests find the restaurant’s charm, delicious food, and excellent service make it a memorable dining experience. Whether celebrating a special occasion or just enjoying a cozy night out, Adolfo’s offers a true New Orleans experience filled with good food, friendly staff, and a warm atmosphere.
