“Bob Boudreau and I were in NOLA for 9 nights. Three of the nights we had reservations at other places with family. Our 1st night we looked up and found Jewel of the South. We loved it so much. we asked our nephew, his medical school advisor and his wife to join us. All three lived in NOLA and had never been here. All 5 of us would definitely go back in a heart beat. Great food. Great atmosphere. Great drinks. Great staff. GREAT ALL AROUND! FIVE STARS for Jewel of the South.“

“Dark, moody ambiance perfect for relaxing and chatting calmly. We got the very rose-flavored but balanced Sub Rosa, roasted chickpeas, and almond-olive platter. Everything was the kind of good that surprises you because it's so much better than you even expected it to be.
Make reservations if you're going on a Friday or Saturday!“

“This was our first time and this place is indicative of the charm of up town NOLA. A modest looking outside wifh a wonderfully quaint and hip interior. The service was perfect thanks to HD (our servers nickname) and the food was perfect along with the fun craft cocktails. A wonderful experience all around. We will be back.“

“My sister and I came in for the Coolinary menu and they did not disappoint! Nirvana has quickly become a favorite after I tried it for the first time a few months ago.
The naan is so soft and fluffy, perfect for dipping into any entree you get. I am partial to the butter chicken though! The tenderness of the chicken with the flavorful broth. It is truly out of this world!
The service is wonderful. My sister is vegan and our server Bosco was very helpful and knowledgeable on the ingredients used.
I cannot recommend them enough. What are you waiting for?! GO!“

“I came here on a Sunday morning in August and I really didn't know what to expect. Luckily, I got here just after opening so there was no wait out in that heat. Everything on the menu seemed hearty so I resigned myself to dieting tomorrow and planned to take a nap after eating. I got the hog headcheese taco for a starter which no one wanted to try, so I had to eat all of that. It was messy but very hog head cheesy. Then, I completely changed my order at the last minute once I saw the big, fat tomato BLT on special. Words can't describe, see my pic. I like what they're doing here for food. This place truly is different but Southern. The one thing I wouldn't order again was the collard green melt. I don't think collard greens have strong enough flavor on their own to balance out the melty part. It just tasted like cheese. All in all, it was a great meal to have right after you get up and want to go to sleep again. Not sure I'd run a marathon or anything right after.
Parking: I parked up the street a way. There's a school near by so during the day I'm not sure there's ample parking.
Kid-friendliness: Your kids are fine if they like to eat big food.“

“Lamb kofta and ceviche were the best! The yogurt and sunflower seeds were a nice touch to the lamb. We also tried the roasted squash which was yummy ?
For the main, we got red snapper to share and we didn’t regret! It came with some mussels on the side which was a pleasant surprise.
If you are in NOLA, you should definitely try this place out!“

“Above all, you MUST order the seared scallops and artichoke appetizer. Fan-freaking-tactic! The Black Manhattan is excellent — except is was stirred long enough so it was nearly lukewarm when brought to the table. Great flavor, but disappointed at how warm it was. (An extra point for Luxardo cherries. Seriously. How can a restaurant claim they serve cocktails if they don’t use Luxardo cherries????)“

“Our family visited Saffron for the first time to celebrate my wife’s bday, and couldn’t be happier with the all around service this restaurant and staff provided. From a warm welcoming and an on time reservation, to a cute & cozy ambiance through great hospitality service, superb cocktails, appetizers and entree options. Every dish was delicious.Even the main chef, was kind enough and took time to stop by to welcome us and share some history around some aspects of the Indian cuisine and history. If in the area, this restaurant must be in your list. You will not be disappointed. Thank ya’ll for the great experience. The Hernandez’s, Atlanta, GA“

“"All that jazz" was literally the best sandwich, best food I've ever had. The Wow sauce really sets it off ? ? I also had the lasagna and o m g man was it good. Also the muffuletta was so good no olive pits in this sandwich ? so I could just dig in and not be cautious. And last but not least the bread pudding ? you can not go wrong no matter what u order here. It's made fresh to order and the food is the same everytime. Rather early mornings or late nights the food slaps every time. I highly recommend verti marte!“

“I wish I could this place 6 stars in every category. What a pleasant dining experience from beginning to end! Thank you Misty and Renee for your excellent hospitality. We even had the opportunity to meet the owner, such a standup guy and his lovely wife is the chef. They are in the process of reinventing their menu so there are plentiful off-menu specials available. The food was seasoned to perfection and beautifully presented. I love that they serve water that’s been soaked in Pandan leaves! I can’t wait to go back.“
