“The food is really good here. We come in the morning we skipped lunchtime cause it’s really crazy but we come at dinner time and it’s very quiet and peaceful and enjoyable. I ordered the large side of Guac with chips thru the line and I ordered the quesadilla online and everything was fresh hot and ready. The Guac was extra good today. I asked the guy servicing and cash name and it was Sabastion and the cash guy was blais the whole crew was nice and welcoming they made my day better.“

You’ll thank us, I promise. 🤤 FIVE STAR REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The meal started out with a “gift from the chef.” A savory leek custard, topped with pumpkin mousse and a sprinkle of sweet & salty crunch, presented in a perfectly carved eggshell. We were given spoon bread as well, which was the lightest, airiest and creamiest corn muffin ever to cross my lips. The sommelier told us that the secret ingredient was sour cream. I guess the secret is out now! 😉 Our sommelier suggested Pinot Noir. Monty chose Belle Glos Las Alturas. Let’s just say that we started shopping for it online immediately after the first taste. It has a fuller body than a typical Pinot Noir, so smooth and juicy. Such a perfect pairing. 🤌🏼 Monty had the pecan-smoked venison tartare with celery root and mountain rose apple. The flavors and textures were out of this world! We combined a few bites of the tartare with a bit of spoon bread. Omg, I’ll say it again: Out. Of. This. World. 💥 I ordered the gnocchi "black and blue" with black truffles, jumbo lump crab and parmesan. Tender, yet slightly firm, with a delicate, pillowy texture, but the truffle took it to a whole ‘nuther level! They gnocchi’d it out of the park with this one. For dinner we shared duck three ways with Bayou Cora grits, foie gras, confit, chestnut mushrooms and cherry bounce. Y’all, I’ve had foie gras, but never before like this. An intensely flavorful silky texture that literally bursts on your tongue. It was absolutely divine. Dessert was hummingbird cake with creole cheesecake, bruleed banana and pineapple ice cream. I just don’t know what to say except the pastry chef knows exactly what she is doing!! This was definitely meal to remember with the love of my life, my favorite dining companion, and my partner in culinary escapades. I love our journey of flavorful adventures, seasoned with spice and a love that mirrors the diversity of a well-crafted menu. “Bob Boudreau and I were in NOLA for 9 nights. Three of the nights we had reservations at other places with family. Our 1st night we looked up and found Jewel of the South. We loved it so much. we asked our nephew, his medical school advisor and his wife to join us. All three lived in NOLA and had never been here. All 5 of us would definitely go back in a heart beat. It was a spur of the moment so I didn’t make reservations. We sat at the bar and to see the interactions with the staff warmed my heart! Emily ( behind the bar) was excellent! She was so patient with the staff, while she never stopped working, she still made time to tend to her customers, answer questions for the staff and even teach them how to do things to help.
