“Had a chance to jump over to the new location this morning and the food remained completely on point. Much better parking situation and just a few minutes further down the road. The best improvement with the new space is the amazing dining room for folks who want to sit down and eat. Loved the decor, the new mascot and best of all, the same super friendly staff. Thanks!!!“

“I really like the food at PhoBang. The brisket Pho is my favourite and the fried egg rolls are very crispy and great. The egg rolls come four to an order. They did just start adding 3% charge for credit card payment. Several places have started doing this unfortunately.“

“Oh man, talk about a hidden gem. Lived around this restaurant my whole life and I feel like an idiot for never having gone sooner. Ordered the general tso's chicken and mongolian beef plate, general tso chicken was good but it was a little different than most other chinese places; I almost wonder if I was given honey chicken by mistake, the sauce was very light in color.

The mongolian beef was by far the best food item i've ever received from a chinese food restaurant. Very good flavor and portion size for the price, definitely worth checking out!“

“After getting into town late and checking into my hotel(Hampton Inn directly behind the restaurant), I realized how hungry I was. It was relatively late for dinner but I checked out Ditali's menu, saw that they were still open and decided to order the Calzone. I ordered online without any issues. Maaann....was I in for surprise. One of the legit best meals I've had in a long time! The portions are huge and the marinara was excellent! The staff were very friendly and were very helpful when I picked up! I will most certainly be recommending and dining with Ditali's again!“

“Wonderful food, fast service, and good prices for what you receive. A covered outside space with picnic tables but has a sign saying "To go only. No out side sitting available" which leads to confusion. Bright yellow trailer next to a ballpark/park area and ice machine.“

“First off all our server Lloyd went above and beyond to accommodate us. We had an issue with a steak being under cooked and then coming back being over cooked. Unfortunately ordering a steak medium well is a task that has to be done just right or what happened last night takes place. The manager Jaime also understood the situation and did everything right to rectify the it. It’s rare these days that you find a waiter/manager combination that knows how to handle a difficult situation and make things right. Thank you.“

We were given spoon bread as well, which was the lightest, airiest and creamiest corn muffin ever to cross my lips. The sommelier told us that the secret ingredient was sour cream. I guess the secret is out now! 😉 Our sommelier suggested Pinot Noir. Monty chose Belle Glos Las Alturas. Let’s just say that we started shopping for it online immediately after the first taste. It has a fuller body than a typical Pinot Noir, so smooth and juicy. Such a perfect pairing. 🤌🏼 Monty had the pecan-smoked venison tartare with celery root and mountain rose apple. The flavors and textures were out of this world! We combined a few bites of the tartare with a bit of spoon bread. Omg, I’ll say it again: Out. Of. This. World. 💥 I ordered the gnocchi "black and blue" with black truffles, jumbo lump crab and parmesan. Tender, yet slightly firm, with a delicate, pillowy texture, but the truffle took it to a whole ‘nuther level! They gnocchi’d it out of the park with this one. For dinner we shared duck three ways with Bayou Cora grits, foie gras, confit, chestnut mushrooms and cherry bounce. Y’all, I’ve had foie gras, but never before like this. An intensely flavorful silky texture that literally bursts on your tongue. It was absolutely divine. Dessert was hummingbird cake with creole cheesecake, bruleed banana and pineapple ice cream. I just don’t know what to say except the pastry chef knows exactly what she is doing!! This was definitely meal to remember with the love of my life, my favorite dining companion, and my partner in culinary escapades. I love our journey of flavorful adventures, seasoned with spice and a love that mirrors the diversity of a well-crafted menu. “Bob Boudreau and I were in NOLA for 9 nights. Three of the nights we had reservations at other places with family. Our 1st night we looked up and found Jewel of the South. We loved it so much. we asked our nephew, his medical school advisor and his wife to join us. All three lived in NOLA and had never been here. All 5 of us would definitely go back in a heart beat. Great food. Great atmosphere. Great drinks. Great staff. GREAT ALL AROUND! FIVE STARS for Jewel of the South.“

It was a spur of the moment so I didn’t make reservations. We sat at the bar and to see the interactions with the staff warmed my heart! Emily ( behind the bar) was excellent! She was so patient with the staff, while she never stopped working, she still made time to tend to her customers, answer questions for the staff and even teach them how to do things to help.
