Dong Phuong Bakery is a great bakery, often packed yet the food is prepared quickly. The place offers some of the best French Bread in NOLA. Their King Cakes are unique yet taste like the classic flavor profile of a King Cake. The cream cheese king cake gets the highest marks and is a crowd pleaser. The coconut king cake is a revelation, with impossibly soft and buttery brioche dough and a rich, creamy coconut filling. The icing is smooth and luscious. One cake is huge and all the flavors have their unique taste; the strawberry is good since it’s not too creamy. The crawfish pie is amazing, with a well-balanced, flavorful, and spicy filling perfect for those who love spicy food. The crawfish pies and the pork and onion pate chaud are packed full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Service is fast and friendly. This is a staple for trips to New Orleans and the best place to get king cakes during Mardi Gras season.
