A very nice escape from the Bourbon St madness. This place somehow manages to be a dive bar, and trendy at the same time. It's a friendly, intimate environment, with comfortable lounge furniture tucked away in a few corners, and a beautiful courtyard out back. I know a few other reviews mention the bathrooms, and they are certainly quirky; however, for me it was in more of a made you smile type way. They were extremely dark, only lighted by a pink neon sign. There is no mirror, so don't go in expected to tidy up your appearance. I have to assume these were conscious decisions made by whoever designed/decorated the place. What better way to say we don't care what you look like, and neither should you than to give customers no mirror or light to check their appearance in. There isn't much signage out front, so it'd be easy to miss when the doors are close. They just have a small hanging sign that says something along the lines of "last stop before the tourist traps" which I found to be both clever and true. I wouldn't say the drinks are cheap, but the quality is excellent and they are relatively affordable for what you'd be asked to pay at most any other bar near Bourbon. The bartender was extremely nice, and the drinks were finished quickly. I didn't get to spend nearly as much time here as I would have liked because we had a busy afternoon ahead, but High Grace will certainly top the lists of bars I stop off in next time I'm near the French Quarter.

One of many shotgun style dive bars on St. Philip. Close to Pat O's. This used to be the old Johnny White's (RIP to that great bar). Not much has changed other than some new branding. The inverted Nike logo with the slogan "Over do it" is clever. Really great bar tenders. It' s not as cheap as it used to be. The bathrooms are abysmal. It has a Touchtunes juke box. My main complaint is that the music is always so loud, you can barely hear the person sitting next to you. It's weird to see Malort on a bar menu and their Michelada (which is fantastic) is called the Chi-town Michelada which makes me wonder if there's a Chicago connection (cursory Google didn't reveal anything).

This was my first time in NOLA and we went to this spot multiple times through our stay! The owner let us come upstairs to watch the St. Patrick’s Day parade from his deck. It was amazing! Great people. Great drinks. Great music. Love it’

Great spot, fun vibes. Totally recommend grabbing a drink from here if you feel like veering off the bourbon street path and looking for something lax and good music. Bartenders are amazing. The owner of this spot is very friendly.

I have never ever encountered such an arrogant, uptight, and self-involved prick of an owner in my life. If you're thinking of stopping here for even a quick drink, just skip to the next one. I feel bad for the employees that work beneath him. Do

Just stopped around 9am on a Wednesday morning and to our surprise the bartender and the customers inside were clearly still partying from the night before. The bartender had our debit card for over 10 minutes because she was so methed out she couldn't complete the transaction. We paid with cash and left. Watch your back when coming here.

Owner tried stealing my valid ID, proceeded to assault my brother and friends, continued to try to escalate things in the street, bouncer threatened us with a gun. Highly do not reccomend this bar. Some needs to be done with he owner. He is deranged and a threat.

This place is awesome and the bartenders are great! Rob is the best and we loved him! Would not have come in if not for the greater. Prices are excellent and service is the best around. We really enjoyed happy hour.

My husband and I had met at the original bar Johnny Whites several years ago and went back for nostalgic reasons. We were not disappointed with High Grace. The new owner and bar tenders were so personable. We told them our story of how we met and they let us recreate the moment. We will absolutely go back on our next visit.

Best bar in the quarter if not the whole city! Especially for locals. I always love coming here. And I love bringing family and friends here when visiting. I've met the owner a couple times and he is so nice! The drinks are great, service is excellent , and vibes are phenomenal! I'll always support this business
