The city of Houston smells like stank balls. This restaurant must have been named ironically. Am I using that word correctly yet? Probably not. Grilled artichokes are the best.
Now, I want to be in this review stating that this is not a personal attack on the staff or the business. The atmosphere and service was very good. Exemplary even. But the food. YALL the food. May the good Lord have mercy on this food because I REFUSE TO. This was my first time dining at this restaurant with my family on my first visit to New Orleans in years and let me tell you it will be the last time! If I could give the food -0 I would.
The food is overpriced and hardly what I’d call decent. The only way I could describe it is this way: you know those popsicles you can get for real cheap like 100 of them for like $5 or something? Now imagine those same Popsicles but they charge you $200 for them and they have fake gold dust sprinkle across them so that you think that they are high luxury popsicles. But once you get a taste of them, you neither taste the gold dust nor the quality.
There are way better restaurants at better prices at or near the French Quarter. don’t waste your money here—unless you want to pay for the atmosphere then that’s on you but it’s a no for me.
The food at this restaurant tastes like that friend you lied to that can’t cook and then they end up taking that to heart because nobody ever told them the truth, and they open up a high class fancy restaurant and it’s highway robbery. If a rich man ever had a piss poor dream of New Orleans cuisine then this is it. Never no more! Y’all ain’t gotta worry about me!
It's not the Houston's of ole
Snooty and impersonal severs
The redfish was fantastic, my wife had salmon which was also fantastic. The key lime pie is killer.
Houston’s New Orleans offers a fantastic dining experience with consistently delicious food and top-notch service. The steaks and seafood are always cooked to perfection, and their signature cocktails are expertly crafted. The atmosphere is warm and inviting—great for both special occasions and casual nights out. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, making sure every detail is taken care of. Definitely one of the best spots in town for a quality meal!
Houston’s is a good night out. Food presentation is solid, and service is professional and performed at a high level. Kudos!

Really enjoyed my food! The only thing that I was unhappy about was the cheese on my potato! It was different, CHANGED!!!!!
Inside is gorgeous, the lighting and the atmosphere is amazing. Food, not so great. Their fish is actually pretty good, wouldn’t recommend their cheeseburger or French dip.
The servers were very nice, I think we talked to the manager a couple of times, he was helpful on choosing what to order, not sure those were the right choices though….

Just left the game in a very respectful jersey and was turned away
Houston is not New Orleans and Houstons Restaurant is not very New Orleanian. Just as the cities differ in personality so do the Restaurants. There is nothing bad about Houstons. It is a typical suburban American restaurant you could find anywhere in the USA. The food is better than overage ok for Dallas or Houston or Indianapolis or Kansas City or Los Angeles or Tulsa. You can walk in there and never know where you are in North America

Our server this evening was very attentive! The shrimp cocktail appetizer was excellent and humongous size shrimp! I ordered the filet mignon and it was one of the better ones I have had recently from ANY similar in class steakhouse. The seasoned crust was just PERFECT, as was the mashed potatoes that came with it!
Always been a personal favorite, but they recently removed their Live Jazz from the equation, apparently due to complaints. But it basically means the great atmosphere of a dinner at Houston’s is diminished. Really bummed about that, because the vibes and the people have been consistently good.
