Beautiful decor with a large real candle on every table, piano player/singer was good and just the right volume. We sat at the bar in the main dining room and our bartender/server Robert was great. All the food was excellent. Recommend sitting in the dining area with the bar and piano vs one of the smaller rooms at the front.
Hunter was an excellent waiter. For starters we ordered soft shell crab - excellent, crabmeat au gratin - mostly cheese but sadly not much crab. For mains chicken parm and shrimp & crawfish fettuccine - again excellent. My husband loved the bread pudding for dessert. The ambiance was lovely. Highly recommend!
In coming to New Orleans, you already know it is a mecca for food and wonderful dining experiences. Most folks only consider the Cajun and Creole cuisine when thinking about the great food here in town. However, Irenes really sets the bar on not only great food, but SPECTACULAR Italian eating! If you are a "foodie" and have yet to dine at Irene's, then you probably ain't quite the foodie that you may think you are! Please place Irene's on your bucket list...
