We come here alot a d have never had a bad experience. The sandwiches are perfect, and you can see them making them right behind the counter. The staff has always been super friendly and makes you feel welcome.
The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars for the atmosphere is because it is so tiny inside, and the few tables in there are really scrunched together

Great shop! I see a lot of people here, nice decorations, big bags of French bread. Their po boys are footlongs. Great place for some inexpensive eats.

It is one of the best Po-Boys in the French Quarter. We heard about this place from our Rickshaw rider. It's worth the stop. Very friendly staff. Great prices. Amazingly delicious food

Food is excellent! Never had a bad poboy here. It's so good that it is ALWAYS packed. Maybe take your food to-go if waiting for a seat or crowds bother you. Truly a staple of the Quarter.

I came to Johnny's specifically for their po-boys, and it was a nice spot for a quick meal. It's a classic, no-frills kind of place. Just be aware that space is quite limited inside. While no one rushed me, I did feel like I should eat and go to free up a spot for others, as it seems to be a popular place.
A couple of important things to note: Johnny's Po-Boys is cash only, so make sure you're prepared! Also, it's self-service, which is fine for a quick bite.

Johnny's Po'Boys is a must-visit every time I'm in New Orleans! This small, mom-and-pop spot serves up some of the best po'boys in the city, with a menu full of delicious options to choose from. I personally love the shrimp po'boy, but the fried chicken po'boy is just as incredible.
No matter what you order, you can't go wrong-everything is made fresh and packed with flavor.
A word of advice: go early! The place is small, and seating is limited, but trust me, it's worth it. The food, the history, and the authentic New Orleans vibe make it a spot I return to every year. If you're in town, don't miss out on this gem!

Johnny's is my favorite poboy shop in New Orleans, and I've been sending people here for 20 years. Smallish, but it has additional seating in the back. I almost always find seating after I order. CASH ONLY, but they have an ATM.

I will share with you the secret of how to eat a Johnny's sloppy roast beef poboy: It's not about a stack of napkins! Simply turn the poboy upside down!

Enjoy!

Felt like stepping back in time! We got served by the loveliest woman, and got the Blackened Chicken Po-Boy and the Cajun Combo which was Gumbo, Jumbalaya and Red Beans and Rice. Everything was amazing, and they had local craft beer in the fridge. A proper institution, definitely worth a visit!

This place stayed busy and had a line out the door the ENTIRE time we were there. I had the fried green tomatoes and shrimp po boy. Was pretty good. But surprisingly the turkey club po boy tasted even better. Talk about shocked. Have been waiting YEARS to eat a po boy bc I wanted an authentic one and this place didn't disappoint. We also tried the gumbo and jambalaya. They were ok. Nothing to really rave about. Will definitely be back!!!
