Absolutely the best place for a one stop shop for King cakes without waiting in a super long line. An added plus the staff is warm and informative about all the kings cakes they offer. They also have some Mardi Gras games and accessories.

So many king cakes so little time. They have such a wide selection. I'd have to go everyday during carnival season to try them all. The staff was helpful and very friendly. The atmosphere is fun and they have little gifts Mardi Gras themed of course 🙂 oh, and the parking lot is in better shape than it was previously with good gravel parking. There are handicap spaces close by the doors.

Yesterday, I went to purchase two King Cakes for my parents, excited to celebrate, but my experience quickly turned into a distressing situation. I was misled about the filling of the king cake. The cake was advertised as filled, but the filling was only mixed into the icing on top, which is misleading. My family and I are New Orleans natives, all of the King Cakes that I have ever purchased have been marked as filled, the filling is always in the center of the cake.
So, I called and spoke to Caywood and Randazzo’s general manager Melissa, to explain the situation. She said that we could receive a refund; however, since we purchased the King Cake from the Hub, we had to go back there. We went back to the Hub and explained the situation to the owner. She proceeded to explain that Randazzo has been “filling” the king cakes on top for a long time, which we understood if that is the way Randazzo makes their king cakes. However, that is not a filled king cake, that is simply a flavor on top of the cake and this is not what I expected to buy. THIS IS MISLEADING.
She agreed to refund one of the king cakes (the one we cut into) but not the other, this was fine and appreciated. However, while I was waiting for the refund, the owner said, "I am trying to do the right thing here and refund you, but I don’t appreciate her bad-mouthing my cakes." I asked, "What are you referring to? I don’t understand what’s going on." I looked back to see who she was referring to and asked again, "What are you referring to? I don’t understand what’s going on?"
After my mother finished talking with a customer, she walked over and noticed the expression on my face and asked me what's going on. The owner began accusing my mother of speaking negatively about her cakes to customers. In reality, another customer had simply asked my mother about some King Cakes. My mother explained what she had been discussing with the other customer, but the owner disregarded what my mother was clarifying and told us “I would like you all to leave." My mother calmly responded, "You’re accusing me of something I did not do, and I’m just clarifying the discussion I had with the other customer." The owner insisted, "This is my place, and I want you to leave." My mother then told her, "This is a public place and I have freedom of speech to talk to whomever I choose. The owner just kept repeating, "I want you to leave."
It was clear that the owner was fabricating a story in her mind, which was very uncomfortable for us. She accused my mother of doing something that was not true then pretended she was the victim as my mother was clarifying what the conversation with the customer was about just so she could ask us to leave the store. We were left feeling disrespected, belittled, and unsafe because we feared that she might escalate the situation by involving the police for just a minute situation.
I feel that after the situation was clarified, the owner should have acknowledged her mistake and offered an apology for the accusations and the way we were treated. However, she just kept trying to silence my mother by telling us to leave. I regret my decision to purchase from this business and feel deeply saddened by the unprofessional manner in which we were treated. I have to give a star in order to post, but even that is too generous for the experience my mother and I went through yesterday.
