Five of us went for dinner on a Saturday evening to celebrate a birthday. We arrived about 6, and they weren't that busy (likely due to the street construction). We ordered 3 apps and 3 entrees which was enough that we ate our fill and one person had some food to take home. Everyone raved about the food. Of the apps, the tandoori paneer tikka and lentil fritters were favorites. Since one of the group is vegan, we ordered the eggplant and yellow daal, then added the chicken tikka masala for the meat eaters. One diehard carnivore declared the yellow daal his favorite of the night. At the recommendation of the waiter, we got 3 orders of roti, but two would have been enough. With 2 beers and a bottle of bubbles, the bill came to $38 per person including tip. We'll definitely be going back soon. I'm already looking at the menu to see what else I want to try.

There has been a plentiful lack of Indian food in the French Quarter. No more! LUFU is absolutely incredible. The puchka (pani puri) are among my favorite single bites of all time. Prasad is an amazing server, that is extremely knowledgeable about the cuisine, and truly a wonderful dude. Come here immediately.

The food was good, but the service was awful, slow and on top of that there was a cockroach that showed up onto the table. The server was not phased by it, the manager didn’t come to check on us, and only offered 20% off. This was just awful, since the food had just came, we barely ate. I will definitely not be returning here again.

The food here was great. We were really enjoying our time and dinner until a roach appeared.

Our extra guest came out while we were telling the server about the issue. He promptly moved us to another table that was blasting the air conditioning fan on us. We didn’t make a big deal out of the extra guest because we just didn’t want to draw bad attention.

The server was nonchalant about the issue. He kept addressing the manager and apologizing. Mind you the manager never came out to speak to us, never apologized to us. Instead they offered free to go drinks. We’re not big drinkers, so we said no to that.

So he came back circled a few times and finally gave us the bill with 20% off. He let us know the manager knows and will have the place fumigated, AGAIN. Hopefully for future diner’s, the issue will be taken care of.

But, that was our first and last time there. At least we had dinner and a show. It would have been nice for the manager to come out and address it too, seeing as the special guest ran across the table while we told the server.

Excellent food and cocktails and great service. Went with a large group and shared plates. Everything we had was amazing. Very quiet on a Friday night, no problem seating a large group. It is the dead of summer however, and I hope that was the case, because this is truly some of the best food in the city and a nice addition to the French Quarter dining scene. Don’t skip it! We even had some non-adventurous eaters who were converted. Will definitely be in our regular rotation. We also don’t have a single photo because everything was immediately devoured.

Every visit to LUFU is nothing short of incredible! This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants, and it never fails to impress me—from the warm hospitality to the bold, authentic flavors that make every dish unforgettable.

This time, I ordered the lamb curry with garlic naan, and it was absolute perfection. The lamb was tender and flavorful, simmered in a rich, aromatic curry that had just the right balance of spice and depth. Paired with the garlic naan—soft, pillowy, and perfectly charred with that punch of roasted garlic—it was the kind of meal that makes you want to linger and savor every bite.

LUFU nails it every time, whether you’re trying something new or returning to your favorites. The food, the service, the atmosphere—it’s all consistently excellent. If you love Indian food (or honestly, even if you’ve never tried it before), this is the spot to fall in love with it.
