No cover but a two-drink minimum, and the staff can be a bit pushy about it when there's a crowd. Drinks start at ~$12 for a glass of wine. Consistently good jazz every night I've been, one of my favorite places in the city, and convenient to the tourist strip. The last few years word has gotten out, and it's standing room only during Jazz Fest or other high weekends, especially Saturday nights.
My husband and I agree that Mahogany was probably our favorite jazz club from our New Orleans trip. Like many of the other jazz clubs, it is a small space and has limited seating so if you want actual seats either plan to arrive early in the evening or just stand and wait for someone to vacate their seats. Absolutely amazing place! Great jazz, great atmosphere, friendly service, we had a blast!
