It's McKenzie chicken in a box; you know what you are getting. The chicken was fresh and juicy. My girl is from Mississippi, and she liked it.

I love this place. They are very friendly and a great atmosphere. I love their chicken!!!! A must try when you are in the gentilly area!

Dirty, smelly, and run down. Though this is a historical location that was once highly reputable, the food and sanitary run-down reality is unfortunate. The people working there were sweet, but this building is frankly a sanitary code violation, and feels and smells bad...the chicken, which is what I came for, had a burned taste, and had little flavor. The gizzards were ok, but not much flavor. If the city had a health inspection, this place would fail. Cool front room is the bones of the front of a once-was Mackenzie's bakery.

I’m so disappointed ordered the 2 pieces of chicken dark meat with fries, and it was terrible, chicken not seasoned and fries over cooked.

They drop so many chicken and when lunch time comes chicken be dark n old

We came here for lunch, we ordered the whole chicken and side of fries, then went to the lakefront and devoured the delicious chicken like savages!

The food was fresh and tasty. The staff were hustling and bustling to get orders out and moving efficiently to get customers in and out. Very good service here.

Good food and a very southern atmosphere! Their fried okra and fried shrimp were devine!

I ordered thru DoorDash for a pickup. My pickup time was for 3:45. I waited until 3:50 to enter, stood in line for about 15 minutes and it was then that I received confirmation for my order. That was ok because there were still 2 people before me. Once I told them I was here for a DD pickup, my order was still not ready. So I wait another 10 minutes or so. I finally received my food at 4:30. My order included a 3 piece chicken plate. A breast and 2 wings. My sides were SM mustard greens, LRG red bean, LRG okra and SM sweet potato casserole. I’m not being funny when I say ALL of it was trash. Chicken was dry and seemed to be refried. The mustard greens were bland and undercooked. The beans were OK at best, no meat in the red beans. The sweet potato casserole was OK as well, less pecans would make it better. The okra was the only thing that was perfect. I’m not sure what’s happened over the years but McKenzie’s could definitely use a Re-Vamp. Inside is terrible and needs ALOT of work. I truly hope things get better as McKenzie is a staple in New Orleans.

The name/food of this establishment is historical and great however the conditions of this building for their workers is unacceptable. Their
AC doesn’t work and it’s very hot in the building. The owner should be ashamed
Of him/herself. I’ll be reporting this to the BBB (better business bureau)
