Great breakfast spot. Biscuits and gravy as well as the chicken benedict were delicious. Waitress was very good and atmosphere was great as it’s right across from cafe du monde so got to enjoy the live entertainment.

2025:
Amaury was my server and he was also at the host stand, and he was aware of an uncomfortable situation of sitting me at the bar between men who were drinking, in tight quarters so he sat me at a table instead which I thought was very considerate seeing as most places sit a party of one at the bar automatically. I had the crab cakes and the crab & corn bisque. The cakes were a little spicy even without the remoulade sauce, and the bisque had hardly any crab in it and it was served lukewarm. There has been a decline in food quality since the last time I visited, but not in service.

2024:
I had the Louisiana lemonade (delicious) and the fried green tomatoes (perfectly breaded). I would've preferred the remoulade sauce on the side though. Brittany and Charlie were amazing and made my visit a delight.

I wanted to love this, TRULY I did. My son recommended this place to us and we made a special trip across the River to have brunch. The service was AMAZING, and the atmosphere was great but the food was mediocre at best. I will say though that the coffee was the best I think I’ve ever had and the King Cake beignets were absolutely delectable, definitely the highlight of the meal, but it went downhill from there. I had the crab cake eggs Benedict, and my hubby had the jambalaya omelet. The first bite was okay but it went from okay to no way really quickly. The food was just over warm and tasted more like reheated leftovers than freshly prepared just for us. The coffee and beignets are the main reason for the 2 stars and I’m tempted to even give 3 because of just how amazing they truly were, but we were STARVING and left hungry and had to go find something else so I’ll give a 2.5 and maybe give it another chance in the near future because their beignets really were that good. Sorry Monty, I really wanted to love you but you broke my heart and left me with a hungry tummy.

Absolutely loved Monty’s on the Square!

I ordered the shrimp and grits, beignets, and the king cake and everything was incredible! The shrimp and grits were perfectly seasoned, creamy, and full of Cajun flavor, while the beignets were light, fluffy, and filled with cinnamon sugar, covered in the perfect amount of powdered sugar (just like you’d hope for in New Orleans!). The king cake was a sweet treat that topped off the meal beautifully.

The service was amazing, attentive, friendly, and made me feel so welcomed from start to finish. You can tell the staff really take pride in making sure every guest has a great experience.

If you’re looking for yummy food, great service, and true southern charm, Monty’s on the Square is a must-try. I’ll definitely be back!

Fried Chicken Benedict is a must. Had that along with the French Toast. Excellent breakfast spot. We sat at the bar and our bartender was fantastic. Forgot her name but she was lovely. This is a must try if you’re walking near the square. Reasonable prices as well.

45 minutes at lunch hour for a meal that wasn’t hot or very good. Wouldn’t have tipped near 20% if it wasn’t mandatory. Great service otherwise

Jambalaya was superb! The alfredo was great and the cajun trio was filling. Just make sure you stack up on appetite since the serving is quite huge.
