We recently dined at Oceana Grill during our visit to New Orleans and overall, it was a solid experience—definitely worthy of an 8/10.
The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, with a great location and a classic French Quarter vibe that added to the charm. The staff was friendly and efficient, and the service moved at a good pace even during peak hours.
The menu had a lot of great choices, and everything came out hot and plated well. While the food was good, we did feel like some dishes could’ve used a bit more seasoning to really bring out the bold, vibrant flavors we expect from New Orleans cuisine. Nothing was bad, just a little underwhelming considering how flavorful Creole and Cajun dishes usually are.
Still, it’s a nice spot with a strong reputation, and we appreciated the experience. With a few flavor tweaks, it could’ve been excellent.
Would we return? Yes—especially to try a few different dishes and see if we just caught an off night. Worth checking out if you’re in the area and want a well-rounded French Quarter restaurant experience.

Our Uber drivers kept recommending this place, saying it was the best—and they were not wrong. It was amazing. It’s a bit pricey—not terrible, but above average compared to other places nearby. Still, the food is outstanding. I would definitely recommend it if you’re visiting New Orleans. I had the crawfish étouffée and the oysters with garlic and butter.

I absolutely could not wait to get me some authentic gator bites & red beans & rice from oceana grill !! the southern creole spice delivered just the right amount of heat ! gator bites were Uh-mazing ! Alphonse, our server was great ! He made the experience even better with such southern & professional hospitality.

The food was amazing all the way around! From the appetizer to the dessert I would definitely recommend this place, especially for seafood.

Atmosphere is very nice and has some quaint features but having to walk up and down the stairs was a challenge. The chicken and sausage gumbo was Dee-licious! The crab cakes were full of crab meat and seasoned well. We also liked the option to do a half/half entree to be able to get the fish and shrimp but without having to order 2 full meals.
