What a find. Definitely part of New Orleans' new wave of great cuisine. Indian food is not one that I usually think of as very innovative, but I was wrong. This place definitely changed my mind - Plume is innovative, and it is great. The banana chaat is a marvel of savory-sweet-spicy, an eye-opening dish for $12. I forget the sauce that came with the sardine dish, tamarind I believe, but the savors were deceptively complex for such a simple-looking dish ($14 I think). The naan is made in front of you and yes, naan too, as simple a staple as it is, can be creative. This one is (get the cheese version). All the dishes were awesome, and the atmosphere is cosy in a well-appointed space. A great destination for those lucky enough to live in the New Orleans area, and if you are visiting, add Plume to your itinerary along with a visit to Algiers' Point and you'll have a great day.

Great for eclectic indian food. Street parking available. The flavors are amazing, but ration sizes are smaller than traditional dishes.

I don't think I'll ever eat at a more delightful and delicious local restaurant. I had the saag and chingri malai shrimp in gravy, with appam and naan on the side. The appam was deliciously fluffy with a great coconut flavor. The naan was cooked perfectly and had brushed ghee and toasted spices on top. I had a great cocktail that had a good quality tequila in it, an awesome stout reduction and some mace (nutmeg) spice. It was perfect.

This is one of the best restaurants in the area. Low-key, low maintenance space. Food is off the charts. Owners are great. Just plain awesome. We've never been so happy to over order.

When one thinks about New Orleans cuisine, Indian food rarely comes to mind. This is unfortunate because Indian and Creole cooking methods are actually quite similar. But, Plume Algiers is coming in hot to the local food scene. If you're a fan of Indian food already, you'll fall in love with the unique dishes like Banana Chaat and Beef (yes beef) Nihari that you won't find in too many cookie cutter Indian take outs. The flavors are well developed, deep, and mature. Just the right amount of heat. If you're new to Indian food, this is a great place to start. The dishes are unique but approachable. We had the Banana Chaat, Beef Nihari, Chingri Malai Shrimp, Naan, Milk Cake and some iced chai. Service is a little slow but this is a family place run by two ambitious restaurateurs - so sit back, enjoy the hand painted murals and savor your meal. It will be worth it. File under: definitely coming back and good reasons to go to the west bank.

Wow! All the 5-star reviews are right on!!! This restaurant was by far our best meal of the week. We took the ferry & it was well worth the trip! We had both appetizers (snacks), as well as the braised beef dish with rice and naan. I also had a house made mango soda with cachaca. Everything was clearly made from scratch, and the ingredients/flavors were phenomenal! Pomegranate seeds, bananas, coconut, just to name a few. This is a small restaurant run by a couple. It won't be long until there is a long wait to get in.

Plume offers Indian cuisine. It is very delicious. Clean restaurant. Good and modern restaurant. Unfortunately, it was Valentines evening and they were slammed, which was a bit too much for this small restaurant. So, we received our order in piecemeal fashion. I think it will be worth to try it again some other time.

Service was great. Atmosphere & Ambiance also great.... Everyone there seemed to really enjoy their meals. The Chia Tea was fantastic. Alas .. my friend and I did not like ours..I guess we ordered wrong dish. It was s'posed to be a Curry / ginger (?) fish..... I couldn't taste the curry At All. And fish was Fishy Fishy tasting ....perhaps it Was fresh but it didn't taste good. Fishy not in a good way. Not sure if I'd go back ; maybe for the Tea.

Hands down, One of the best Indian restaurants in the US. I am a big fan of their drinks, jaggery lemonade is the best I've had. Naan is freshly made in a tandoor oven, goes really well with the dal and the chicken. Overall, I highly recommend if you are in the mood for trying something new.

Plume delivers thoughtful, elevated, and frankly delicious food at a price point that won't break the bank. It's a treasure of Algiers and I can't recommend it enough. My wife and I split the banana chaat, fish kabiraji, chingri malai shrimp, and our 3 year old had the cheese naan. Don't be scared to bring your kids here - they had 3 different options for kids that should satisfy most picky eaters. The banana chaat is also kid approved. Everything was fantastic.

BEST Indian food in New Orleans. Hands down. When I finally made it over to Plume, I couldn’t believe I had been missing out on something so amazing for so long. Don’t come here expecting to get your typical, basic Indian dishes like tikka masala, butter chicken, etc. Go to Plume to be taken on an Indian culinary adventure. There was barely anything on the menu that I had heard of before, but for me, that’s right up my alley. We got the Raj Kachori, Shrimp Kaathi Roll, Mulai Kattiya Taniyam (and Naan of course). Everything was EXQUISITE—Absolutely nothing like I had ever tasted before— and had an explosion of flavor with every bite. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Plume Algiers is definitely one of my favorite New Orleans restaurants now.
