This is a hidden gem. I love the oysters, St. John and the shrimp remoulade appetizers. The appetizers are always on point. I have not tried every entrée, but the ones I have had don’t compare to the appetizers. The shrimp and grits is pretty good.

Fantastic food and service. This will likely be a restaurant we continue to visit every time we are in New Orleans! We sat upstairs which was so nice and quiet!

Unfortunately this place is absolutely not worth the prices. The food is all very basic. For that price point you can have infinitely better food at Herbsaint, Brigsten’s, or Zasu. The service is really bad as well. Mangers try their best to make up for it but overall a mediocre night out.

We ate here last night (March 14th). Sat at the bar. Lovely bartender, cocktails, atmosphere, and the music was AMAZING. Totally my vibe. However on the food - I grabbed a salad, which was good! Hard to screw up a basic Caesar salad. My husband opted for the burger, which was a different story. Pretty sure it was a Bubba Burger. First burger he has ever refused to eat - he said it was the worst one he's ever been served. He's not picky! So, this is a review about the burger mostly. Don't get the burger. We didn't send it back but did hint to the bartender that it sucked. Paid full price for it. Not the issue. Just fix the burger!I took one star off for service because bartender was clearly coached to recommend most the expensive menu items. I hate that.

Great food, service, and atmosphere. We had a large party of 11 and the waiter was extremely accommodating. All of the food was really good from appetizers to dessert! Cocktails were great

Listed on the menu as creole beef daube ($42 plus tax), it was described as black angus short ribs (pictured below), braised in red wine, roasted trinity and garlic with whipped potatoes. It was unquestionably among the best short ribs that I have ever had and was very tender. The whipped potatoes were very flavorful and delicious. The restaurant has a lot of bar seats. This is a chef owned restaurant, which is a plus as related to consistent kitchen performance.

Really poor experience overall. As soon as we walked up, I regretted our choice but we had put our credit card in so we went with it. I went to the bathroom before we sat down and was horrified. It smelled terrible in there and was so dirty, like a bad dive bar. For $35-$45 main courses, that is simply unacceptable. The toilet wouldn’t flush, and there were paper towels everywhere. It made me think back to my old high school’s bathroom, which is really not a complement. We sat at the bar of the open kitchen, and I saw some things that were very concerning. They use packaged French fries, which is bad enough for a fast food restaurant but truly appalling for a sit down restaurant with these prices. A lot of food was pre-cooked and just sitting there the entire time we ate, not even under heat lamps. There was also cream left out on the counter unrefrigerated, and at one point I saw a cook smell it, look a little unsure if it was still good, and then use it anyway. The food was bad, worse than anything I’d ever make at home. My husband had gumbo, which is supposed to be thick from a roux, but was water-thin and strangely tangy. It’s not how gumbo is supposed to be. (My family is from New Orleans and my grandma made gumbo when I was growing up, and this was not gumbo.) I had the chicken bonne femme. The chicken itself was edible, but the vegetables it came with were terribly mealy and inedible. The server was nice and the music choices were really fantastic. Otherwise, I have nothing positive to say.

In my opinion, the worst bartender in the Quarter. And that's saying a lot. Vibe is weird and prices are super high, this place is not it.

I visited St. John’s February 4, 2024. I ordered the chefs special which was a whole fried red fish. The presentation was good. Once I started eating the fish I noticed it was fully cooked. I ate about 10% of the fish once noticed it being undercooked. I let the waitress know and she agreed and took the fish back to the cook and he agreed. The waitress asked if I wanted anything else I declined and just asked for my check. Here’s where the problem ensued. I was charged for 25% of the price of the fish. I asked why wasn’t it 100% removed from my bill. I was told well you started eating the fish.??‍♂️ How was I gonna know it was undercooked if I didn’t start eating it, that’s why you visit a restaurant. However I’ll never refer this restaurant or return. Thumbs down ??

Food was horrible! We got sick and we should have known to leave because there weren't any customers! That was the red flag we ignored. Then we were put out! I don't recommend going here. These better reviews are fake or purchased. The restaurant is nice it looks great that's it! Don't eat here.
