Good value for excellent food--we liked everything we tried. It was an anniversary dinner, and a great choice. It's BYOB, which we didn't know, but we had great beverages there, and will return prepared. Friendly staff as well.
Incredible !! Get everything it’s so wholesome and delicious honestly way better than everything around it
What an amazing place. Someone recommended this restaurant. Thought we would give it a try. Not disappointed at all.
Let me start with the delicious food.
From their new menu selection, I chose the Shish kebab. I’m used to a shish after a night out drinking in the uK. This kebab is on another level. They use filet mignon. Yes, filet mignon. The meat was so tender. No knife needed. The mix of aromatic herbs and spices were dancing in my mouth.
From the Hummus, wood fire olives and Mediterranean salad, everything was spot on.
It’s bring your own booze. That’s fine.
The chef/owner came to the table and introduced himself. He is a master chef. So much passion about his menu. This has the be the best place in New Orleans for Mediterranean food. Will make this one of my favourite places from now on.

I had such an amazing experience at Saj! The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and perfect for enjoying a great meal. I even had the chance to meet the owner, Mo, who shared the story behind the restaurant and his inspiring goals for it.
I was lucky enough to try their brand-new menu on its debut. The hummus was incredibly fresh, but the real star was the Kabbeth appetizer - absolutely unforgettable. For my entrée, I couldn’t resist trying a bit of everything, so I went with the kebabs featuring three different meats: kofta, chicken, and filet mignon. Each one was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The Kofta is my favorite!
Dessert was the much-anticipated Harrissa Tamer, and it did not disappoint. It was the perfect sweet finish to the meal. To top it all off, I tried their house-made strawberry soda, which was refreshing and delicious.
Everything from start to finish was outstanding, and I can’t wait to come back with friends to share this incredible spot with them. Highly recommend Saj!

Food was quite good as always. About our 4th time, or so to eat there. The issues are this: it is incredibly noisy. PLEASE put up some wall hangings or rugs or something to muffle the din, and please turn off the music in the background which no one can hear and just adds to the challenge of visiting with friends at the same table. Honestly -enough of an issue to keep us from coming back. Second, the waiter, who may have had too much to do to be honest, was very hard to understand not just because of the noisiness of the place, but no one has ever taught him how to interact with customers. He talks fast, mumbles has a pitch to his voice that does not project, especially when it became noisy, and he was not patient in explaining the options, We didn't see him much either, but again I think the place was understaffed that night. But places like this need to understand that ultimately, good or great food will not keep you up and running and successful in this city if not also accompanied by great customer service. Which it was not.

Best homemade sodas! I love their strawberry mint soda and getting their 4 dip appetizer. The muhammara dip is just beautiful! Definitely check this place out next time you are in New Orleans!

The food was okay and a reasonable value for the money (prices are quite low).
The baked feta was quite good and the paella was flavorful (just an average size bowl-full, plunked down as the waiter passed by with a “there ya go” not stopping to ask if we’d like fresh plates or anything else!). That was after we had finished our appetizers and I had to call for him from across the room to order an entree. He was very intent on not making eye contact nor coming back our table.
The falafel bread had a peculiar taste, and the mint iced tea was downright bitter.
The service was so bad it was laughable! I cannot remember encountering a more rude, arrogant or inattentive waiter in years.
It should have been a sign that at 8 p.m. on a Saturday night this place was nearly empty.
The waiter seemed annoyed that we showed up (as per our reservation). He was very brusque, effectively us know that he was not interested in going out of his way. Unfortunately the overall tenor of the dining room didn’t help in overcoming the cold shoulder routine we were getting from our so-called “server”. It was so dimly lit as to be gloomy, the entire atmosphere gave the impression that they were only half-heartedly open.
When I asked if he could tell us about the Baked Feta he replied; “well what do you want to know?” After dragging a very curt answer out of him, I asked about the size of the appetizer.
I simply wanted to know whether or not it would be ample enough for my wife and I to share. To this we were told; “it’s about the size of a hockey puck”.
We ordered appetizers and told him we would see how filling they were, and then decide on entrees. He said he wanted to take our menus but would give them back when we needed them! We asked may we keep them; this guy actually said “no, I’ll take them and give them back to you”. There were only two other occupied table at the time, surely he didn’t need to pass them to others.! This waiter was just plain strange and he could not have been less courteous.
Our experience in general was way below par.

Absolutely loved my experience at Saj in New Orleans! The food was phenomenal—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The salad with cucumbers, feta, cranberries, and was crisp and delicious. The warm stuffed grape leaves with yogurt were rich and comforting. The highlight was the baked cheese with honey and herbs, paired with freshly baked flatbread—absolutely unforgettable. Our waiter was excellent—friendly, attentive, and made us feel so welcome. I can’t wait to go back!
