Good poboy and friendly service. The place was pretty busy when I went but the line moved relatively quickly. Ordered the Ray Ray, which was fried chicken with ham and Swiss. Pretty solid and they use that crunchy French bread. Red beans needed a little salt, but pretty good. There was a little miscommunication on my part ordering a side salad, but it was taken care of with no issues. Overall a good experience and would return when in the area. Next time- roast beef poboy.

I used to be a regular customer at Sammy’s because the food was consistently seasoned well and tasted homemade. Unfortunately, the quality has changed a lot over the past year. The dishes that were once flavorful are now very bland — it tastes like the recipes and seasoning have changed or the people preparing the food are not familiar with how it was originally made.

Review 10/19/2025: Server: Caleb Food: ***** Yesterday we drove approx. 2 hours to your restaurant. Order Turkey Dinner to go. While waiting had Pumpkin and Banana Cream PIe while waiting for to go order. BANANA CREAM PIE: I am extremely particular about BCP, gave this a *****+++. THIS WAS THE BEST BCP THAT I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!! TURKEY DINNER: This turkey dinner is the closet to our own family recipe that we have ever got at any restaurant. Turkey was perfectly cooked, potato was perfectly mashed, squash/stuffing was close our own family recipe. WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN.
This place must be managed and owned by someone else other than the original owners. The food we ordered on 10//11/25 was terrible. The All American Hamburger meat was tough to chew and the lettuce was brown and vinegary tasting. The fried chicken parts were very small and fried hard. The wing and leg meat was brown in color as if it were bruised. The chicken pieces were so small like yard bird or pigeon. The flavor was absent. My Grand daughters could not eat that chicken because it looked nasty. I brought the condition of the food to the cashier and I requested better pieces of chicken but she said if 10 percent of the meal was consumed, they could not replace it. I explained, the girls did not eat the chicken but when they broke into the pieces and discovered the discoloration of the flesh of the chicken, the girls could not eat the chicken. The cook agreed to replace the chicken leg with 1 piece of chicken tender. This was terrible. There are 4 pieces of chicken on the plate, all discolored and damaged meat, replaced with one piece of chicken tender. I will never return to this food service establishment to get my feelings hurt and low grade food! I hope you all do not go to what used to be Sammy’s either!
Great food , we had Sharma, chicken kebab and meat cubes with tomato and pepper, all were very delicious. Nushantashi smoothly is very healthy and can order it without sugar. I really loved the atmosphere and staff are very friendly. I highly recommend it 👌 👍
This was the best restaurants of 14 meals during vacay. Monday wine special-$7 per glass for any wine on menu. Had a little glitch, which was rectified and comped. Nice seating inside or outdoors.
Great food good prices.

Literally the worst roast beef I have ever had.
The flavor was great. It was well-seasoned and very tasty.
But-- the meat was cut along the grain. It was nearly impossible to eat. I had to tear pieces apart and basically swallow them whole. It was unbelievably tough. The care in cooking it was ruined by the lack of attention to slicing it.
Waste of money.

Sammy's doesn't owe me anything. Best poboy's since Gene's shut down. And I learned today that Sammy's supplied Gene's with their hot sausage. Roast beef poboy's are just as good. Portions are on par with price considering infaltion these days. I have had about half their menu over the past 2 months and no complaints about anything.

Sammy use to be very good I don’t know what has changed since the last time I ate there but this food was horrible. I had a shrimp platter and even though they were fried good, it had zero seasoning. Seems like they didn’t season the shrimp or the flour it’s fried in. My coworker had super fresh grilled red fish and it was very tough. He was barely able to cut it with his fork and after a few bites he described it as trash. I had a side of potato salad and I had to add mayo, mustard and salt to make it edible. This was one of the worst lunches I’ve had in years. My other coworker had country fried pork chop with gravy and onions. The pork chop was unseasoned and the gravy was obviously can gravy, it almost resembles jello. He had a side of macaroni and cheese and said it tastes like they just melted American cheese over the noodles. Obviously they are not tasting the food they prepare. The only thing on my plate that I could tolerate were the French fries.

Great Food Value Quality! Veterans & First Responders discount, ask for it; in New Orleans that's called LANGIAPPE (A Lil Extra). Yesterday it was Soft Shell Crab Poboy, today Stuffed Shrimp Plate. Guy Fieri put them on everyone else's map, Now the Secret is out.ENJOY!!!
I have eaten at Sammy's many times and tried something different every time. Never had a bad meal and always leave with leftovers. Two people could eat off of a single dish.
Parking: If you are used to city traffic you will not have too much trouble.
