Unfortunately, not at all impressed. Restaurant smelled bad when we entered. They were out of at least half of the items on the menu when we tried to order around 7 pm. We decided to try a meatball appetizer and the center of the meat was cold. We cut our losses and left before ordering any entrees. Definitely will not be back
most amazing lemongrass crab bisque. Love their sesame crusted salmon too. everything on their menu is great.
Food was very good. I wish butter chicken was on the menu but really enjoyed the meal. Waitstaff was very helpful . Had that neighborhood restaurant feel. Could tell that many of the other diners were regulars. Definitely will go back when in NOLA again.
This place is unreal and that is saying something when it comes to a city with good as good as NOLA. If you are look for traditional and tasty - this is the PLACE.
I don’t say this lightly, you have to come eat here.

I absolutely love this place. The food is excellent, friendly staff, the vibe is so nice and mellow. The owner is always there to greet his guests with a smile and sits down and laughs with you as well. Great place

Some of the most delightful and personable staff members, and absolutely hand down the BEST pakora I have ever had! All of the food was delicious, and they made Mocktail versions of their Cocktails for the non drinkers in our group!

This restaurant was supposed to be good with all of the reviews but this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. We should have known when they had reservations available last minute. it’s like they actively tried to make the food bad. The biryani was wet when we got it, no color and flavor just salt. The lamb korma was boiled meat in salt water and some garham masala but also dry and gray, the butter chicken was not creamy or buttery it was just dry. The naan was microwaved. It was like the Lacroix of indian food. If you are looking for anything even close to indian or south asian this is not it.

Hey, fire whoever you paid to put menus on cars today just before it rained. I was annoyed with the mess, but a piece smeared across my vision by my wipers while trying to drive home and I almost wrecked

Cannot recommend this place enough! Great neighborhood spot and the food is ridiculously good. Luckily on our last visit we were with a big group, so we got to taste a couple of the newer items on the menu. The Mulligatawny soup is amazing, and so is the Bengali Chicken Dum Biryani. I was already in heaven and then the Tandoori Lamb Chops came out. Cooked to perfection, they are incredible. Awesome staff as well. If you're looking for great Indian food and a fun, festive vibe, Silk Road is the spot.

Restaurantji Recommends
I( a local)worked with Chef G to create a fun evening with college friends and spouses who had lived in India for a month in the late 70’s. I wanted a fun Indian variety, not too spicy as we are older. We had the back room with Brittany as our bartender( for wine/beers) and our server. Folks could visit the bar for cocktails.
The buffet set up was perfect and the food was enjoyed by all. Samosas, crab balls, chicken tikka masala, spinach paneer, sesame encrusted salmon, saffron rice and a rich chocolate cake for dessert. It was VERY reasonable. The seasoning was good for this group although my family would have needed Tabasco. :)
We had fun with trivia and could be as silly/loud as we wanted as it was just us! Brittany even learned a thing or two!!
I would highly recommend Silk Road for any gathering like this. We were 25 and were staying down the street so the location was perfect. The neighborhood is very safe and parking would not be a problem if it was needed.

This was an entirely acceptable dining experience. The service was good, our waitress was polite and prompt, but the food was probably the most basic Indian cuisine I've ever had. We had samosas of which the breading seemed overcooked/slightly burnt with a bland filling, and both of our curries were bland and slightly too sweet. It wasn't bad, but wasn't good. Namaste in the CBD is likely a better choice if you're hankering for some good Indian.

They were out of the chili shrimp that I wanted to try. Lemon grass crab bisque was the highlight of the meal. Disappointing last dinner in New Orleans. It was so deafening loud in there I could not hear or have a conversation with my spouse who was sitting directly in front of me.
We had heard about this place from a friend and wanted to give it a try. We booked our hotel near Frenchman street, in the Marigny, add the Balcony Guesthouse. Turns out this restaurant was attached! We settled in and treated ourselves to a very generous and not expensive sazarac, properly made and ordered the Saag Paneer.
There are very few seats and a small menu. We enjoyed the music and the vibe.
The saag paneer came out really great! We appreciated the Brown rice with lentils. And the dish was very refreshing had a nice light flavor the paneer was fried to a beautiful golden crisp. Overall, we think this place is a winner!
