The chef / owner saw that we were not being acknowledged by the wait staff as we stood at the entrance. He greeted us warmly and got us seated, eventually taking our orders. His recommendation of Roku for a gin and tonic will become my new favorite. A new menu each week in an intimate, funky neighborhood setting will make this a regular outing when we stay in Bywater.

Don’t ask for your steak/chop/duck to be cooked to the temp that you prefer. Executive Chef Ernie Foundas will tell you it’s his choice of temp or choose another entree. There are only 2 or 3 other choices, sooo…

Creative food really well done. As a local, I love that the menu is always changing. Love sitting streetside in the Bywater.

There are three things I do when I go to New Orleans and eating here is one of them. Thanks again for an excellent food experience. The lasagna was fabulous and loved the cheesecake. See you next time!
This restaurant is exceptional. Great decor, great staff, great food. Go have a fabulous unique and special dinner it’s an old school experience and it’s great. Can’t recommend this retardant enough

Excellent place, a little off the beaten path but the food is soooo good! Kind of hipster junk store decor, New American, farm to table style food, small but creative menu. Anytime I'm staying in the Bywater I come here.

What a great evening at Suis Generis. The server/bartender is an incredibly kind soul - open, authentic, warm. We connected immediately. The drinks were delicious (and strong) - I had the housemade chili lime-ade with bourbon. Food was good - small plates are small, so if you have an appetite, get a larger plate. The atmosphere was super chill, and like other places I’ve experienced in NOLA, everyone is so friendly and generous with their kindness. So glad I tried this place.

Delicious entree. Unfortunately, I asked for the entree to go after the rude service and salad. Do most farmer salads include mint, sage and cilantro sprigs?? The salad was a bed of poorly prepared aromatic herbs. NOT GOOD. Obnoxious and unwelcoming service. After the salad, I got my steak to go because the women were so unpleasant. Not a great idea- no cutlery or any garnishes. It will be a while before I come back
