After a long trip and waiting to settle into the hotel we found this spot not more than a block away and kept going back over the course of the week even though we were just visiting and not for the convenience but the service was fantastic the food was amazing and overall just an incredible spot to check

I've been here multiple times, and have always enjoyed the experience. This review is based on my most recent visit, on 03/23/24 for dinner. The service was very much below par. The waitress rarely came by, seemed perturbed that we asked for more time to decide. Came once in an hour to ask regarding a refill. I had to ask another employee for a refill of tea.On top of that, the food order was very slow to come out. We had a basic order, a burger, catfish basket, and two bowls of gumbo. It took over 40 minutes. Mind you, the waitress not one time while waiting checked on us to tell us anything about being backed up (The restaurant was not that busy, just steady). Refilled once.During the time luckily I did order a cup of gumbo as an appetizer, but the rice was deplorable. It seemed like the bottom of the pot that had dried out/overcooked. Luckily, in a way, very little of it. Normally would want more rice. The rest of the food was fine. Very good even. The bowls of gumbo had rice that was cooked fine, but little of it.Biggest issues? Terrible service, long wait times, and my cup of gumbo had inexcusable rice. Why not one star? The main courses were solid as always.I hope this was a one time issue, as High Hat has always been a good place to visit for lunch or dinner.

Unfortunately, the server forgot multiple items that we ordered. Then at the end of the meal (we have 5 adults and 1 child) we were informed that we couldn't split the check and everything had to be on one credit card. The closest ATM was 2 blocks away and the ATM wasn't working. We were trying to pay 1/3 of the check in cash and with 2 credit cards. It's sad that a restaurant wants yo miss treat its customers to save the couple of dollars on credit card fees.

One of my fav places to get legit "Southern Delta" cuisine. Never disappoints. Feels like an institution already.

When we arrived there was little to no seating available, so we sat at the bar for our entire time at Hi- Hat.The staff didn’t introduce themselves, or welcome us with a warm greeting, just pointed to bar stating it would be better for us to sit there for faster services on our takeout. Which still took 45 minutes to get our order. While sitting at the bar we were instructed that the bartender would take our order which he did. Still didn’t get no instructions from any of the staff.I ordered a drink which came very fast, the ambiance at the bar was nice if you like that kind of setting. When we finally got our food, portion sizes were too small, the catfish was the best thing out of everything we ordered with the bacon greens on the side. The BBQ shrimp was ok, the rice was raw, the pork was sitting in grease with greasy for gravy on the side, the Mac and Cheese ok. I would never recommend the pork or the rice to anyone. Unless you like that kind of stuff!!!Overall, it was an average experience.

I love the high hat café. Sometimes there's a wait but it's always worth the wait. Service is always efficient and pleasant and the food selections are always spot on. I had the shrimp Poboy, and the grilled shrimp were fantastic, not overcooked nicely flavored and seasoned. The coleslaw was delicious and fresh and crispy. I always try to take my out-of-town guest to high hat Café, because the food is always delicious and the service excellent.

Such a good spot to get some good New Orleans food and cocktails. The pimento cheese plate and the burger are fantastic.

A neighborhood gem with a robust menu and consistently good food. Again the rating is price point anchored. We are repeat customers for a reason.

Redd great service and amazing drinks. I asked for a tequila beverage and the bartender came up with several choices. I asked for there favorite and it was amazing.

My family and me visited New Orleans for Mardi Gras during the weekend of Feb. 2-4. We stayed at an airbnb nearby. As it was downpouring on 2/3, we chose to eat close by. High Hat had some really good reviews so we chose to check it out. Parking was easy to find and we only had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated for a party of 7. The restaurant was pretty packed for a Saturday night during Mardi Gras and we figured it was mostly locals there. I ordered the Po Boy catfish grilled with fries and a side of pimento grits. It did take quite a while for our food to come but we noticed that a lot of the tables that sat before us were also waiting for their orders. We didn't mind the wait BUT I will say that our waitress was nowhere to be found after she took our order. When I got my food, I didn't receive the fries with my order and reminded the waitress. I wasn't upset or mad, just thought she misunderstood that I still wanted fries with my order and not replaced it with the grits. After she left to get the fries, the hostess came to me and very rudely told me that they were short staffed and that I would have to wait. She needs to check her attitude, period. I had no complaints until she stepped in. After my fries arrived, we NEVER saw the waitress again. In fact, all the other wait staff were very good at checking in on their tables around us (which we noticed). The food was good but I was completely soured by the experience of our waitress and that very rude hostess. I can forgive the wait for the food if the restaurant is packed but not the lack of effort from the waitress or the rudeness of the host.
