honestly just not very good.

the menu is extremely pretentious, and the food isn't especially good.

the menu goes on and on about their famous sourdough starter that they use to home bake sourdough bread but the bread has almost no Tang at all and the sandwich I ate was too large that it falls apart the instant you try to take a bite and it didn't particularly taste of anything but air and cardboard.

the Cajun hash is not hash in any sense of the word but a collection of halved red potatoes.

extremely disappointing for the amount of money I paid.

I would have been better off getting a mcmuffin.

this is probably a good spot to take your 178 year old grandmother who thinks that black pepper is spicy

the bacon was good tho.

Wakin Bakin was referred to us by our hotel. The food was very tasty and the service excellent. Generous proportions at a reasonable price. We made it a point to go there for all of our breakfasts while we were in New Orleans.

This was a great spot. I got the OG bowl, and it was delicious. The server was amazing. The cook was hating hard on Michael Jackson, but that's ok. He likes Prince. The atmosphere was just fantastic. 10/10

The tofu bowl was delicious. Very good sour dough bread as well.

Never dining here again, and I was a pretty regular patron who’s introduced many people to the restaurant. I’ll now be actively campaigning against it.

Cutest little breakfast spot with extremely good food! My over easy eggs were cooked to perfection and the creole hash was amazing. The service was attentive and they were playing Portishead which was perfect for a rainy Monday morning and a great cup of coffee.

Excellent service, no wait, loved my breakfast sandwich on the sourdough bread. I wish they hadn’t toasted my biscuit but I’ll know better to ask next time. Easy walk if you’re staying in midtown.

Tiny breakfast cafe in Mid city. We didn't show up early enough to avoid the wait. They only have 6 tables or so inside and several picnic tables outside. It was nice enough to sit and enjoy the weather. It was difficult to pick what we wanted. They have traditional style breakfast, eggs, pancakes, meats etc but the specials seem to be the favorites. The breakfast burrito was a popular choice but I got the sandwich and they got the tofu bowl. The sandwich was basic, but damn good. I like their sourdough and may buy some of their starter at another visit. The tofu bowl was equally excellent. Everything was well seasoned and flavorful. It was a bit spicier than we were expecting with the jalapenos, but in a good way. It was busy but the staff was doing their best to keep everyone happy and satisfied.

My favorite place to get breakfast near me.
The biscuits and gravy never disappoint, and the sourdough is downright addictive on its own. A treasure in midcity.

I use to frequent the Wakin' Bakin' location uptown before they closed down. After coming to this location, it makes sense now why the other location closed down. There is not a shred of management at these restaurants. I decided to try out this location before a Saints game a few Sundays ago. First off, its about 300 sq ft inside this restaurant, so if you bring a group, make sure they all skinny. And if they ain't skinny when you arrive I can guarantee they will be skinny when you leave this location. Myself and a guest come to this location for a nice breakfast and we were seated. They brought us a small glass of water about the size of a thimble. After that we were never served again for the duration of our visit. We must have sat in that hot, unventilated small room for over 20 minutes. We watched as many people came in behind us and ordered food to-go and were immediately given service. We watched other tables receive food, bills and the ability to place their food orders. Everything about this location is small. I wish I could review the food but I did not make it that far. I ended up leaving and going to a place where I could be served some food. Will never frequent this poorly managed hot box again. Do yourself a favor and skip this disappointing location. It is not what I would call a good New Orleans experience.

(Edit) If you need more proof of how carless and ineffective the management is at this location, just read the response down below from the owner. It looks like it was sent from an AI with zero empathy or emotions.

A small location, but the food and service more that makes up for that!! Bacon Confit is out of this world!!!

Food not great, especially for New Orleans where food is legendary and major tourism revenue. I would go in for 4 dollar coffee, but the FOOD was most basic IHOP-made from box pancakes, stale turkey bacon AND twice/ three times the price. Coming from DC, not impressed.
