Terrible. I have been a very loyal customer for my whole life so I know there lunch specials have ALWAYS ended at 3:30pm. Recently when I have gone there they have on multiple occasions tried to lie to me saying there lunch specials end at 2:30. Before I went today I called and said I would like a lunch special she said ok and then continued to charge me double for a regular meal even after being confronted about it. Terribly disappointing and will not be getting food from there anymore and I recommend you don’t as well until they start to not try to scam their loyal customers anymore.

The BEST Indian around. Not just in Amherst but even over competition in other towns. Highly recommend

We cane across this restaurant while walking after a visit to. Emily Dickinson Museum and pleasantly surprised to see a nice Indian Restaurant seemingly run by Punjabi family. Portion size is good. Food is tasty and perfect for anyone feeling homesick and craving for North Indian food

The whole experience is wonderful- especially in this rural setting where popovers are worshipped and apple butter is a delicacy. The menu is loaded with interesting and tasty dishes made at any spice-level you want. Lunch is a particular bargain, but for these meticulously made items like homemade cheese and naan bread fluffier than a cloud I dare people to try to make any item better at home. I’d love to hear about your chutney in Kerela that was better, but remember… this is Amherst and we are so blessed to have people making outstanding recipes from one of the great ancient cultures of the world right here. Next to great popovers at the Black Sheep. The family that owns this restaurant is very kind and the whole experience is one of being transported across the world to another time and place. Linen napkins sit in huge water glasses that you will need filled repeatedly if you ask for the spiciest renditions. The service is very attentive so you will not run out. To me this place is a hidden gem that represents great cuisine brilliantly in the Happy Valley.

Great place with a clearly marked vegan and gluten free menu. It was good food and everything tasted fresh and hot!
Clean and very well organized. Food is very small portions. Not a great taste as they claim.
The food is delicious and the environment of the place is also very nice. I recommend the chicken tikka masala to people who are new to indian food it is creamy and rich. They also are happy to accommodate to allergies!

Very disappointed with our experience. When we arrived, there was only one other customer, so it wasn’t busy at all. We ordered three chicken and one vegetable biryani and asked for water three times. The cups on the table were extremely dirty, and when we requested clean ones, the waiter ignored us and poured water into the same dirty cups. That was unacceptable. We didn’t eat or drink anything and just left the place. Definitely won’t be returning.

I ordered from grubhub. Imagine sending a 20 dollar biryani in a small paper takeout box. Very dry and tasteless. Won’t recommend, maybe the dine-in experience could be different, I don’t know.

Restaurantji Recommends
Love the food, vibe, environment, everything of this place. Recently graduated from Amherst College and kinda sad wouldn’t have access to this place. Idk why this restaurant is not as popular as Bombay Royale but it definitely should be. For south Asian people, first try the food once at least before judging. Also, the lady is amazing. Her sweetness is the best thing at this place. Feels like home.

Terrible Experience – Avoid This Place!
I had one of the worst dining experiences here. The food was absolutely pathetic—especially the chicken, which not only stank but was clearly undercooked and unsafe to eat. When we brought this to their attention, the staff were rude and uncooperative, outright refusing to return or cancel the order.
There was zero concern for customer satisfaction or food safety. I’m extremely disappointed and honestly shocked by their behavior.
I will never visit this place again and strongly urge others to stay away. Save your money and health—go somewhere that actually values hygiene and customer service.

My son and I have frequented this place for the last year and recently brought my sister as well. The food has always been amazing, the service great, and the portions are generous. We leave with leftovers for one or two more meals when we’re done. They have set the bar for me in terms of local Indian restaurants. I always leave very happy after having a great meal.
